My Virgin Box wont override when recording , WHY

(4 out of 5) by Ms. J. Richardson on Jun 13, 2009 (UK)
Very nice and shiny , big drawback though, my Virgin receiver used to override when i turned it on meaning that i could get my old dvd recorder recording and watch stuff on Virgin . This doesn't do that , or rather i can't get it to, if anyone can help please do.

The Toshiba RD88DT seems to be a very good product, I have not owned a DVD recorder before but this was easy to set up and the picture quality seems good, the hard disc is great to use. I would recommend this product.Toshiba RD88DT Freeview+ 160GB Hard Drive DVD Recorder 1080P Upscaling

Top Quality Machine

(5 out of 5) by G. Williams on May 13, 2009 (Great Dunmow)
This was my first DVD recorder with Hard Disk and I was and still am, after a couple of week's use, very impressed. It is a complex machine and time spent studying the longish manual is amply repaid if one is to get the best out of it. The basic operation however is simple enough. But for more advanced operations (such as using the timer) there is a series of steps to take which are not always obvious.

The Hard Disk I've found invaluable, so easy to use and to select an item to play back. Watch it once and delete it if so inclined, or consign it instead to a DVR-R or -RW.

All in all I am well pleased with the machine; I give it top marks and would recommend it to anyone.

Good Product

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Stephen Woolley on Apr 17, 2009
I originally bought this to replace my DVD recorder which was having problems. It was fairly straight forward copying "Lost" from my Sky+ box onto DVD. This was done in LP (4hours) and the picture quality was okay.

Last week I took the recorder to our caravan where we can get Freeview. It was easy to tune. Recording onto the hard drive was easy enough using the EPG. The one drawback is that I couldn't find a way of altering the start and end times when timer recording via the EPG and as such missed the first few seconds of one programme. The playback quality was good especially on SP.

I am yet to try it with an HD TV so I cannot comment on the upscaling.

The DVD player can be a bit noisy when loading a DVD but is okay during playback and recording.

Overall I am happy, it's easy enough to use even though the manual is a little hard to fathom at times.
