Extremely good value for money
Canon PowerShot A590 IS Digital Camera (8.0 MP, 4xOptical Zoom) 2.5" LCD
According to situation, I use a Nikon D200, a D40, a Coolpix P5000 or a Panasonic TZ3. I bought the Canon A590IS as a light, cheap camera that allows manual setting to use on a Gigapan, but I've rapidly found out that it's well suited to general use, and provides features and image quality I'd have expected to pay a lot more for. Furthermore, they all *work*: this as opposed to some cameras where autofocus hunts in low light, macro is a joke and noise reduction turns Photorealism into Van Gogh every time.
Oh aye, it does point & shoot as well, has the usual slough of "modes", zooms silently while recording videos, provides clean sound from the onboard mike and has an optical viewfinder. And it takes WA & Tele converters. It doesn't make coffee or walk the dog, but only just.
A delightful discovery.
