Buy this TV!!!!

(5 out of 5) by Wesley Mason on May 30, 2008 (UK)
This tv is the best TV that I have seen. The picture quality is second to none, and with a name like Toshiba, you know that it is going to last.

Due to the picture frame, the TV does not look huge, in fact, when the TV is on, you only notice the picture and not the TV, unlike many other TV out there which tend to dominate the room.

I have my PS3 connected up and the picture quality has really tempted me to subscribe to HD TV. SD pictures are also excellent and the freeview is so good that it appears to upscale to HD.

The TV is pricey, but remember, this is a high end TV and you get an awful lot for your money!!

I have tweeked the picture a little bit, which is easy to do, as other reviews have stated that this is best i order to get the best out of your picture. But to be honest, I think the default picture is fine/ I used THX to calibrate it slightly and reduced the brightness to 33 and the backlight to 80 and in some cases it does appear to improve some pictures.

Overall, I rate this TV with 5 stars, buy one!!!

Worth the money.

(5 out of 5) by Mrs. R. Hughson on Jun 20, 2008 (United Kingdom.)
I purchased this television a month ago after deliberating on whether a 40" would be too big for my living room to replace the 32" I had. I have no hesitation in saying that it is not and indeed fits in nicely where the 32" television was. This perhaps could be partly due to the thin bezel on this T.V. The picture is excellent likewise the sound. With the installation of Sky H.D. the effect is similar to being in the cinema. The Freeview is easy to access and setting up the T.V. is simple (and I'm female!) Definitely a best buy.

Gorgeous telly with great performance

(5 out of 5) by Andy Hay on Jul 4, 2008
Great looking LCD with performance to match. Has to be the best 40 inch LCD on the market just now. Looks loads better than the equivalent chunky Sony models. If you want a big screen but don't have lots of room this unit is roughly the same size as a 32 inch CRT(including surround). Sound is amazing considering the small size of the speakers. Worth the extra, you wont be disappointed.

The Faultless LCD TV

(5 out of 5) by Frank Leach on Jul 7, 2008 (East Sussex, UK.)
Having "studied" the market for a few weeks in the early part of the year I decided that the 40ZF would be the ideal choice. I bought it at the beginning of May and have not changed my mind. On the contrary. I was wary due to the Which report last year putting Tosh in the "Don't Buy" category due to its poor standard TV picture. My 40 ZF is superb. I did have to reselect the standard TV channels as the autotune appears to go for the lowest channel number it can lock on to, in our case there are three BBC 1 and 2 channels of which the highest channel number is the best and produces an excellent picture. Is this why Which wrote it off?
I have also set the picture to my preference but this is a subjective assessment. The control is there to set up any colour mix, contrast, etc to suit the most discerning. Its tech spec is the tops and its appearence is even better. Well done Toshiba! We don't receive HD yet but can't imagine it can get much better than it already is. The plan is to get the FreeSat and a 5.1 wireless sound system eventually when prices stabilise. I'm in no hurry.

Excellent SD, Even better HD

(5 out of 5) by D Browning on Sep 2, 2008 (Wales)
After months of research I plumped for the 40ZF and cannot say I am dissapointed. The standard definition is superb (through Virgin media) with many channles appearing to be upscaled. The sound is astonishingly good considering the small speakers, indeed I was considering purchasing a seperate (Onkyo incidentally) AV reciever with 5.1 beforehand, however feel in no hurry to now.
The really outstanding aespect of this TV is its High Definition capabilities which I have enjoyed testing through BBC HD, FilmFlex HD and the xbox 360.
Overall thrilled with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.
