HD DLP Projector for home cinema

(4 out of 5) by Gary Macpherson on Feb 26, 2008
I find this a very good value for money projector. Bright with good detail and colour. Easy to use and change settings if required. Only thing I can think negative about it is the occasional rainbow effect. I am not sure of the colour wheel speed, it must just be a 2x or 4x as the rainbow is more noticeable compared to my old 6x speed optoma projector. Anyway still a good projector and a good buy if on a budget. You don't want to spend too much on HD just now with tech moving so fast. You will probably want to upgrade to 1080p for the same money in a couple of years! I would recommend this HD7200x over the HD720 or HD720x.

Best Buy! Unbelievable quality!

(5 out of 5) by P. Blackman on May 27, 2008 (UK)
This has to be the best buy ive made in ages.

I bought an el-cheapo projector about 6 months ago on eBay, the quality was ok not great, brightness was rubbish and was only 600:1 contrast. So i decided to spend a little more money on a better projector.

I got this delivered on Friday and i spent 10 hours playing XBOX 360 on this over the weekend. Only problem i have now is i need a new XBOX as mine was pre HDMI. But component is amazing on this.

I have a throw of 8.5 feet, and i measured the screen at 64", the brightness and quality is amazing even with ambient light i still managed to get a decent image.

You can hardly hear the fans which is a huge bonus compared to my last projector, and the menu is so easy to use.

The only issue I found is that it must be either table or ceiling mounted because I don't think you can adjust the position of the projection. I did mess around with the settings but then I started to lose the bottom of the image. Maybe i need to play around with it a bit more but its not a huge problem. Still a fantastic projector for the price!

Fantastic. Just awesome.

For those of you wondering if you can justify spending £400+ on a projector, it's worth it, I shop on Amazon all the time but this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review.
It arrived the day after I ordered, which was a great start. I now have it hooked up to my computer as I'm typing this as well as a PS3.
Watching movies, playing computer games, TV - It all looks great.
Im not using a screen yet, I'm just projecting it onto a light beige wall and it still looks crisp, clear and smooth.
Also I would like to make it clear that setting this thing up is a breeze, you do not need the manual they give you. But even that is well written and very, very helpful.

Overall. Ace product. Buy it now.

Optoma HD 700 Projector

(5 out of 5) by Mr. S. P. Hyslop on May 15, 2008 (Hertfordshire)
I had been toying with the idea of buying a projector on and off for a few years now. I'm glad i waited. I am very impressed with this projector. It's small, quiet and easy to use. It has lots of connectivity options and the box includes all the various cables you need. Cheap as chips as well. Try it first before you go and buy a screen, you'll probably find you don't need one if you have light coloured walls.

Totally worth buying

I am the sort of person who likes to research something lots before i buy it. I read alot of reviews on the hd700x and they were very positive. I then noticed that there was a brighter model the hd65 and was torn on which one to buy. I decided to go for the hd700x and am so glad that i did. My room isnt very big and the projector sits about 2 metres away from the wall, however i still get a 1.5 meter wide picture. The brightness is great, even with the curtains open in the day the screen is easy to see. The colours are really vivid and look better then my fiends lcd tv. I have an xbox 360 plugged into the projector with the red blue and green cables and it is set to 720p, the quality is awsome and even with normal dvds the quality is not too bad. Hearing reviews i was worried the fan would be too loud, however it is no louder than my xbox 360 fan even when it is set to fast. I would definately recommend this instead of buying a large hd lcd tv, a bargain :D .
