Superb value
The Argo is without doubt the best budget ipod travel speaker I have come across. It's about the size of a hardback book, a nice satisying weight and of excellent build quality, with a nice rubberised base. The selection of ipod adaptors and aux-in socket means any MP3 player can be used with it. It takes only 6 AA batteries so its energy efficient (although you cannot charge your ipod from battery power only mains) and the included mains supply has a European adaptor. The whole thing slips into the included soft case and looks very natty indeed. Sound quality is pretty good for the size, although its at its best with sparce production (dance, acoustic) rather than mid-range indie where it can struggle a bit and get a little distorted. The radio is good, the plug in wire aerial less so. Its good value at £50, excellent value at HMVs £30.
Very Happy Customer
I bought this product after doing a fair amount of research on the net. Overall I am very happy, sound quality is excellant and more then loud enough. The unit feels well put togther and comes with various different cradles to ensure a snug fit for your i-pod (i have a 3rd generation nano but found that an using a 30GB holder allows me to leave the nano in it's protective case when attaching to the unit). Haven't used enough with batteries to see how long they last (it takes 6 * AA size). The unit is quit large, about the size of a big hard back book (think later Harry Potter editions!!). Another nice touch is that it comes with a travel case which should provide some protection on the road. At this time i haven't used the radio so no comment on that. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would recommned to anyone wanting a portable speaker system with the added bonus of an FM radio. If you don't have an ipod the unit does come with additonal connects to allow other MP units to be plugged in.
