I had problems with my last DVD-RW writing to certain brands of media, when the drive packed up I thought I would go for a Pioneer as I had heard good things. I'm very happy and it writes to all the different brands of media I've collected over the years. Highly recommended
A clear winner !
I was quite pleased with my last DVD burner but when you've tried a Pioneer you won't go back. It's read and write compatible with all media brands I've tried (even some troublesome TDK media worked fine).
I think when BluRay drives get a little cheaper I will be on the look out for a Pioneer offering.
MORE PIONEER PROBLEMS
Recently purchased two dvr 111 re-writer drives, when my old Samsung drive met its maker. Initally was very happy with them, however I found when ripping cds, to hard drive, the odd track, on some discs jumped, try,d new discs etc, eventually got realy annoyed and purchased new dvr 115 drives, once again intialy happy but when ripping discs to hard drive some cd tracks jump. Try,d updating software/firmware and packed drive with padding, to see if it was a vibration/dampning problem, no joy.Very dissatisfied with product.
Pioneer Wins
Bought this DVD-RW to replace a new HP1040i which was quite frankly slow and noisy and vibrated like an overloaded washing machine. Found out it was made by LiteOn, so out it came. In went the new Pioneer, and hey, bliss!. Quiet, quick and vibration free. No problems writing to media, slide drawer seems to built robustly, and to date, no issues. Installed latest firmware from Pioneer which enabled more media burn capabilities. This model was cheaper than the HP (LiteOn) 1040i which was meant to be all singing and all dancing. Downside?. Wish I got the more expensive model from Pioneer!.
