WORKS WELL
At last, after a year of irritation from my navman, a satnav that does what it claims. Starts up quickly, and the auto start/stop when you put it on/off the cradle is a bonus. Traffic programme works well, with good reception, and can show hold ups even without a route programmed in. Bluetooth actually works with my phone. Only quirk is that when entering a postcode, the uk is subdivided into england wales and scotland. Once I realised I had to choose wales to enter a Cardiff postcode all was well!!! Otherwise Ive had no problems, and I find the restriction of uk mapping only on this model a bonus

Good Overall Performance at a Reasonable Price
After much research on the web, including reading Amazon reviews, I opted for this unit against other contenders from Tom Tom and Navman. I have so far been extremely happy with it. I haven't experienced any slow start-ups as some have reported. Bluetooth works perfectly with a range of phones (probably because it's Parrot based). There is good support from Garmin and updating via the web is a breeze. You can also find things like free POI files on the web. The range of features is impressive, although the map isn't current with a local section of the A428 that has been turned into a dual-carriageway in the last year or two. It's useful to know that the unit comes with a protetcive case, the power-cable/traffic aerial, a windscreen swivel suction mount and a dashboard disc. The "People who bought this bought it with..." can be misleading - I ended up buying a case I didn't need. The only problem I have with the unit is when trying to "Call Home". It truncates the telephone number. Garmin tech support are investigating and have offered to replace the unit. It's a minor inconvenience as the unit supports voice dialling with my Blackberry Pearl perfectly. The FM Transmitter is a great feature, but isn't 100% reliable. As you move to different parts of the country, you may have to re-tune it. It's also often hissy and rarely perfect, but the internal speaker is adequate. All in all, I'm very happy with it. Note that whilst Garmin will sell you European map coverage for £60, it can be bought online at other vendors for around £29.99 and just downloaded into the unit (no memory card required).

Excellent, does what it says on the tin
After struggling with a Tomtom 530T, the Garmin is an eye opener!! None of the bells and whistles of the Tomtom but it works. The maps are up to date, the bluetooth works perfectly and it doesn't crash. The traffic receiver is very useful and fast to download info.
Overall, a simple but effective satnav with accurate maps, lacking the features of the Tomtom, but unlike the Tomtom it actually works.

Good buy
This Sat Nav works fine and takes me where I need. Sometime slow on the satelite pick up on start up, but apart from that it does what you pay for. A recommendable buy

A true sense of direction!
We have had this product for about a year and use it daily. It is excellent in terms of performance and ergonomics. The display is large and clear as are the voice directions. The directions are also timely and accurate. Traffic updates are usually frequent and we admire the "creativity" of the unit in terms of finding alternative routes when there are traffic problems.
The only downside is the combined power and traffic receiver lead is a bit clumsy but this is not sufficient to lose it a star. This is also offset by the slim profile of the device making it easy to take with you and the quality of the mounting hardware. Garmin frequently publish software "tweaks" which make small but progressive improvements to the device. The unit is also versatile in terms of the additional features it has including Bluetooth, media player/viewer functions.
In summary, a strongly recommended satnav that should last a long time.
