Home Cinema

(5 out of 5) by Raymond Elliot on Apr 7, 2009 (Fife, Scotland)
Pioneer LX-01 - LX Series 8.1ch Home Cinema System with Omni-Directional Speakers - Black When I received this product and opened it, I thought it would take a lot of working out, where all the cables fit and all the links to each of the units and television. But once I had it all together and cables tidied away and up and running it was worth the money. Not sure if I would have paid any more than £1000.00 for it. Amazon.co.uk were offering the best deal, so I snapped it up.

I have it connected to my Pioneer 42" KURO TV which gives the Pioneer LX-01 outstanding picture & sound quality. The machine upscales both your old DVD's and Television recordings, how I know is I contacted PIONEER.

I was looking to do an add on by purchasing the Pioneer BDP LX-08 just to complete the whole package of having Blue Ray as well, but because of the price I will have to leave it for now. If you can afford it, look at the Pioneer LX-01BD, this gives you the total package without having to purchase an add on.

If you are really into you films and tv you will certainly enjoy this system.

Ouch!

(4 out of 5) by John Cassidy on Jun 21, 2009 (United Kingdom)
Second try at review, hope this gets published!
Well, theres no doubt that this system performs GREAT! But it is well rocket science. The programing of what to transfer to the TV screen and the pass through of scart and the selection of what media to record on to the hard drive selection. The remote has buttons and an iluminated centre control with more touch sensitive selectors than you can hit with a stick and names of presses like p.ctv??????? and "line" and stuff - ohhhh! combined with the external remote push buttons, I'd like to meet the bloke who invented this! It has taken me a month to get less than half way there and when I get more time i will engage the manual and fathom out the multi functions I have inherted to just watch telly.
When I get to that pinnacle I will have a system to beat all others. I just got to do a home degree in "remote" first, if I can spare the time
A great home system, but you will have to be prepared to do the homework

Switching problems

(4 out of 5) by Peter Sarkany on Nov 26, 2007 (Budapest, Hungary)
Two problems when using PDP-508D and LX01 together:

1. LX01 can not be controlled by the PDP508D's remote despite of the manual's description (p.69).
2. When powering on the LX01, it forgets to switch the HDMI input to the HDMI output even if it was switched off in this state. So when swithcing on the whole system, just a dark screen can be seen, since nothing is output to the TV's HDMI input.
Quite a shame for Pioneer.
