Easy to set up and works!

(5 out of 5) by Captain on Jun 1, 2009 (Purley on Thames, Berks)
I bought this as a replacement to an earlier Belkin product. I have Virgin media which has a wired network through a router. I then had an access point to establish a wireless network for my lap top. Range and reliability were limited so I wanted a single product which would allow me a wired network router for my desktops and also a powerfull wireless network for my lap top. This does both and I can now use my laptop at the bottom of my garden some 100ft away from the unit. It also provides a very reliable & fast connections and through put.
Simply put, it's a fast improvemnt on the old belkin unit i had and set up was easy.

ABOLUTE AWEFUL!

(1 out of 5) by J. Shelley on May 16, 2009 (United Kingdom, England, Kent, Chatham)
I bought this product from Amazon in July 2008 and its May 2009 now - problems NON-STOP.

FAULTS-
After two weeks the router kept crashing constantly especially when I was away from home so I couldn't restart it and I was trying to access my web server remotely.

A month later the screen died

On the same day before the screen died, I did download a firmware patch (however isn't official as its pre release but it stopped crashing ever so often)

4 months later, the product stopped working full stop. Wireless couldn't be found and trying to access the wired connection was futile. And I'm going to see if it can be sorted by Belkin on Monday as support isn't available on Saturdays.

I wouldn't buy another Belkin Router again - I've had two and they've both been dodgy in some way or form!

I recommend LinkSys as they are CISCO approved according to what's on the box.

Good features but very unreliable in the long term.

(2 out of 5) by R. J. Barrow on Apr 16, 2009
I have been using the N1 Vision since it was launched. It replaced an old BT router\wireless router combo.

For the first 8 months or so the router worked perfectly, able to handle everything I threw at it. I don't use it just for access to the internet I have my own server running using the DynamicDNS service and with a PS3, Xbox360, and Wii all going it sees a lot of traffic. Due to the increased bandwidth available through the pre-N features it could also handle two simultaneous HD streams.

Now though it is starting to get very unreliable. The problems are:

a. Random disconnects from the internet. I have to power the router down and restart to reconnect.

b. Wi-fi disconnects. The wireless function has become practically unusable in the last few weeks. The bandwidth fluctuates wildly and the router refuses to connect to any wireless devices. Again it needs several resets to get it functioning again.

There are quite a few reports of these problems on the internet, with no response from Belkin. I have to actively discourage use of this router in the long term. For the price you can get much more reliable products from Netgear.

Belkin N1 Router

(5 out of 5) by Rob on Dec 1, 2008 (UK)
I purchased the belkin N1 router a week ago because my last one was a belkin and I know the setup procedure, the reason that I purchased this model was we have amassed three laptops, two towers,a ps3 and an xbox 360.The old router could not stand the pace with all these computers running at once and I had to start resetting the Modem at least three times every day.Not with this baby it handles everything with ease and I have not had to reset the modem or the router once, I'm a very happy chappy.

Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Router for Cable Connections

(4 out of 5) by Mr. E. J. Robinson on Jul 23, 2009
I have had this for a month now, when its running ok its great, I get 19mb+ through it. It has crashed and locked up about 6 times now and when it does it is not usually just a case of rebooting the modem by disconnecting the power. I end up having to power down the router then the modem, apply power to the modem then the router. On the last occasion I ended up phoning virgin as I couldnt get a connection there answer was it was the routers firewall blocking everything, I had to power down as above, wait 2 minutes, then power up as above, then restart pc to get a connection. If things carry on this way, I may be contacting amazon for a cure or replacement. The router is already running the latest firmare as when you first plug it in it automatically checks for an upgrade.

All in all,I would recomend this router because of the speed, previous routers I've had including a dlink "draft n" have started off with a decent speed but drop off after an hour or so,sometimes less, and i Have ended up with speeds of less than a couple of meg when paying for twenty. The belkin doesnt seem to suffer this problem giving me a fairly constant 19+ mb.
