Good monitor for a great price

(5 out of 5) by N. Barr on Jan 17, 2008 (Oxfordshire, UK)
My cheap and cheerful digimate monitor gave up the ghost recently so I bought one of these. It does not have a DVI connection but the VGA connection does fine for me. The picture is clear and sharp and the widescreen is very useful indeed for word documents, photos - and movies. I'm impressed by the quality at the price - it may not have any bells and whistles but it does what it should do - provide excellent picture quality. Now I will just have to wait and see whether it provides reliability over time - years not months please...

Great value but not for me

(3 out of 5) by Andrew J. Colclough on Oct 9, 2008 (Derbyshire, England)
If you have already decided that you want a glossy screened monitor then this is great value. It worked straight out of the box and produces bright crisp images that look gorgeous. However, even with the venetian blinds closed in my office the reflections on the screen and on the black glossy frame surrounding the screen are dreadful. In general I get a headache after only 30 to 60 minutes of use and I'm probably going to be sending it back (at my expense) to get a replacement matte screen. If you haven't used a glossy screen before think carefully before you buy one, and consider whether the environment you intend to use it in is dark/dull enough.

Fantastic Product

(5 out of 5) by Christopher Howland on May 29, 2008 (Derby UK)
The HP w2007V is a fantastic flat screen monitor. I had it out of the box, assembled and working inside 10 minutes. The monitor was plug and play with my PC and the HP display setting software is very helpful indeed, ensuring that you get the contrast, brightness etc just right.

The 2Watt speakers are simply not powerful enough in my opinion, however these were not why I bought the display.

As others have commented, the colours are truly vibrant - be under no illusion, this is a first class product.

Excellent picture quality. Isn't that what its supposed to do?

(5 out of 5) by E. C. Olsson on Feb 9, 2008 (Merseyside, England)
I bought mine March(ish) 2006, and it stood out from the 15, or so monitors that the superstore had powered on for demonstration. Clearly this glossy-thing is the future, as the colours were BEAUTIFUL compared with the 'non-reflective' screens. Which seemed very dark, in comparison.

The internal speakers are good enough for watching a film on, (but no hifi here), and the style is just lovely. Many people have commented - wow how much was that!

And just so you know I bought mine in Denmark, and paid like 200 pounds equivalent for it.

As for the other reviewer - no DVI? Who cares man - can YOU see any difference in the picture quality? Me gf and I can't, and I am typing / looking at a DVI-connected monitor right now. (Somebody just gave me a monitor - dam, could have saved some money, lol). Don't forget the Digital Rights Management stuff that can be carried over a DVI-connected device....

So, I'm delighted with my monitor, and bah to anybody that says different!

Its the small things that count

(2 out of 5) by J. HUDSON on Oct 13, 2008 (Middlesbrough, England)
after researching for hours, trawling the internet for reviews of monitors i decided on this. despite the good reviews, i found three main reasons why this monitor is not all its cracked up to be

Colour: the monitor comes with pre-configured options for use with games, photos etc... but all options make their target look either way too contrasted or way to dull. although there is a manual config it still does not display the colours to the best they could be.

Screen: although i knew what i was buying when i bought a glossy monitor, this screen goes way past anything ive seen before and almost blinds you.

& finally...and most annoyingly of all

Ghosting: when plugged into my laptop, there was a constant ghosting on everything, that would not go away no matter what i updated be it the cable, the monitors setting or my graphics card.

i would not recommend this monitor, as my mother still tells me "you only get what you pay for" save up and buy something better
