Great mouse, but not perfect

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Q. P. Harrington on Oct 27, 2008 (UK)
As stated in the other review, this is a very comfortable mouse to hold. The weight feels just right and is molded in a very comfortable shape to grip it easily. Also looks very good too! The mouse glides across smooth surfaces very well with very little resistance. The batterys were included which is always good. The "forward" and "backward" buttons on the side of the mouse are very useful but take some getting used to as they feel very light, and can be pressed accidently very easily if you have larger hands.

However, you are supposedly able to click the scroll wheel to either side for side-scrolling but this would not work! There is no CD included for you to install the updates. Instead you will need internet access to download them, which isnt really a problem as it can be plugged into any computer with a USB port and used straight away! Another negative is that the mouse will not turn intself off after being idle, which would have been a useful feature to save energy if you forget to switch it off from the very tiny power button on the bottom of the mouse.

All in all this is a good mouse, not excellent but good value for money. I've had this mouse now for nearly a month and has not failed me yet!

Missing Software

(4 out of 5) by Regular Customer on Oct 6, 2008 (UK)
Great product, very comfortable to use, but let down by no setpoint software included. After initial installation the horizontal scroll did not work. It was only because of a previous product that I knew it needed to have the setpoint software loaded. As it was not provided I had to download it from the logitech website. The point is without my previous knowledge I would not have known why this feature did not work, hence 4 stars instead of 5.

Logitech LX8 is a great mouse!

(5 out of 5) by J. Leadbetter on Nov 22, 2008 (Northern Ireland)
I have always been a fan of Logitech products and when I decided to upgrade my existing mouse, I purchased an LX8. I have been very pleased with this mouse in every way. It performs much more accurately than a normal optical mouse and suits me very well in the graphics designing that I do.
Well done Logitech for this fine product!
It fits comfortably and is very good value for money.

Great mouse with a big problem!

(3 out of 5) by T. C. Bennett on Mar 2, 2009 (Surrey, England)
This is a pretty good mouse. The tracking is accurate and fast, left and right clicks have a nice tactile feel. The scroll wheel is confortable to use and its button is superb for Vista users giving you the ability to switch from application to aplication almost instantly. However it does have a serious problem with the two side (forward and back) buttons. If using the mouse right handed your ring finger lies directly over the right hand button and it is so sensitive that when you move your thumb to operated the left side button you invariably operate both at the same time causing all sorts of hangups. Without a doubt left handers will have the same problem but tother way round.
Logitech could easily have overcome this problem by removing the rear half of the buttons and by making them just a tad less sensitive. A tip if you have the problem is to cut a small section of elastic band and tuck it between the offending button and the case of the mouse - I found that towards the front and on the top edge of the button worked best.
Overall a well behaved rodent once you have him/her elasticated!

Worried when I read other reviews about over - sensitive buttons , but fears were unfounded - even with my fairly large hands ! Easy to use and no problems with wireless range .I'm left handed but easily worked with my right .Build quality excellent.I would recommend this mouse . Martin (Belfast)
