I bought these speakers to be partnered with a Yamaha CRX-M170 micro system and connected them using QED Silver Anniversary speaker cable. I also stuck small rubber pads to the base of the speakers to isolate the sound and protect the furniture.

I have larger Hi-Fi set-ups in other rooms, but these speakers sound fantastic for the money.

They are 'ported' at the front and I have found no problems with positioning them. I bought the 'apple' wood finish, which have dark brown/greyish grills. They look great and have a quality feel.

They DO NOT produce deep bass, which was just what I was looking for in this case. If you do not want to upset the neighbours and you listen at moderate levels these are ideal.

For the price they are available for, I really do think they would take some beating. I can often be critical, but not this time.

Very pleased with these speakers.Partnered with a Denon mini system,good quality cable and a pair of spiked sand filled heavy stands i had laying around.No problem with bass and detailed mid and treble after positioning around a bit(not too close to a back wall,let them breathe a bit).Not bi wireable which was a bit of a shame and not the best looking speaker around but for the price excellent value. Bought from Richer Sounds for £80 cash after a bit of a haggle lol.

Good solid build, can hear a lot of detail in my music again, plenty of sound to fill our little living room,and more. Glad I could bring new life in my allmost 25 year old NAD receiver

I'm extremely pleased with these speakers, I've had them nearly a year now so they've had good opportunity to run in and they sound fabulous connected to my Onkyo system. I'm using some decent Belkin speaker wire to drive them and also have a speaker switch with another set of bookshelf speakers (some Denon's) in the kitchen. The Denon's are fantastic too, particularly at the higher end and I was afraid the Tannoy's wouldn't match up to them. All the professional reviews say these are the ones to get for sound quality bang-for-your-buck though and I'm pleased I listened to them (no pun intended). Sound reproduction is excellent, they're not quite as good at the top end as my Denon's, but then they're slightly bigger and give slightly better output at the bottom end. I've got these in my living room and in a semi-detached house where I don't want to blow the neighbours away they're absolutely ideal. Good looking too!

Paired up with TEAC CD/DAB receiver rated at 25W into 6Ohm, sub definitely needed! Musical and bright up top, but as others have said not for high volume when they started to sound harsh (could have been the amp peaking). Speech is very clear indeed, the sound improved markedly when moved away from the wall as per instructions. Not enough on the very top end e.g. hi-hat but this without EQ, overall good value especially if you're downsizing like me.
