I've only recently purchased a Tomtom, having gotten some work that takes me all over the country. The Tomtom I have, the cheapest model, has so far been invaluable and already justified its purchase. Now that the device has proved itself I feel defensive towards it and decided to buy it some protection!

I looked at a number of cases that would protect my Tomtom and eventually plumped for this one as it had good reviews, its price was good, and the p&p wasn't half the product's cost :-)

The delivery time was silly. I ordered the case on the Sunday 28th Sept 2008, Amazon gave me an estimated delivery of Thursday 2nd Oct at the earliest.. but in fact the product arrived on Tuesday 30th September. Two days before the Amazon estimate is a result!

So onto the product itself. It looks like leather, it smells like leather, so I guess it is leather. The structure maintains its shape even without the Tomtom inside, so it's not a soft leather pouch, it has some solidity to it. The front and back of the case seem quite solid, as if they are reinforced by something, and the sides are tough but maluable. The case was shipped to me with a foam placeholder inside to ensure it maintained its shape during shipping.

My Tomtom (ONE v3 UK 4:3) fits very snugly inside the pouch and the top of the pouch fits over the top of the Tomtom just fine. At first I thought the case's lid was going to be flapping about as it has no visible means of securing itself to the front of the case (no catch or velcro or anything). However, it soon becomes apparent the flap has a couple of magnets in and the front of the case is reinforced with some kind of thin layer of metal which the lid magnets snap shut to. Nice! (I think the back of the case also has this thin metal layer of reinforcement present too.)

The case looks smart, feels solid, and hugs the Tomtom ever so close so it won't bounce around inside the case. There are no marking on the case so no way to tell what it is holding, which in my book is a good thing.

My only two slightly negative comments about this product is that the fit is very snug, so it is sometimes hard to extract your Tomtom from the case (a whack on the bottom like a ketchup bottle soon solves that problem!) The second concern is about the padding; I don't know what would happen if I dropped my Tomtom in its case, as there is no real cushioning or room for the Tomtom to move as it hits the ground. The Tomtom is surely protected if something tried to strike the screen (like an elbow or something as you are walking), but if you were to drop it I'm not sure how much of the force the case would absorb, and how much it would pass onto the Tomtom it holds inside. Having said that, the case will provide more protection than nothing at all, so maybe I am just nit-picking.

Overall I am dead chuffed of my new Tomtom case, and I don't regret purchasing it for one moment. It's a well-built and well-priced product and will surely increase my Tomtom's lifespan and keep it out of trouble, and that is exactly why I purchased it.

Excellent product, quality leather and catch and at such a good price too! Beats my original Tom Tom case hands down. And along with prompt, speedy delivery - who could ask for more? Well done DSN.
