very disappointing...

(2 out of 5) by Valerie Phillips on Nov 2, 2009 (Wales)
This product only accepted certain DVD's. Non of the DVD's we tried with the machine were copies, and yet the machine refused to acknowledge them. This was a shame, as we did not try all the DVD's which we were taking before we left for our holiday, and realised to late that their was only 2 or 3 of the 10 that we could watch... Very disappointing.

So far so good

Have only had it for a couple of months but it's been a lifesaver entertaining our toddler on a couple of road trips. Works brilliantly - battery life at least 5 hours. Clear picture - only thing which could be better I guess is volume but its fine with ear phone in

We loved this DVD player - shame it died on us!

Unfortunately we only had this DVD player for a month before it died on us! However, when it was working we loved it.

Pros: fantastic battery life, great screen quality, removable battery for when you just want to run it off mains/car power, good volume

Cons: we had lots of techinical problems with this DVD player, it would play some DVDs well, but with most it would freeze or simply refuse to play them. It would not play home movies (on DVD-R) at all. Eventually it stopped playing all but 2 of our DVDs and would only play those if you held the player at a certain angle.

I'm not sure how many of the 'cons' were down to it being a faulty unit and how many (such as not playing DVD-Rs) are true across all units, however, we liked the battery life and screen quality so much we would have been more than happy to try another. Sadly, when we returned ours they were out of stock so we had to make do with a refund.

Excellent!!

I was extremely happy with my buy!! I bought the same model but in red. So far i havnt tested the battery life as I have always used it plugged into the mains.
I take it on every trip and connect it to hotel TVs and also watch in the car and also when i am tucked up in bed and there not much noise around then I use the speakers.
If there is no background noise then the speakers will be fine but any noise and they are not the loudest so id say headphones are a must.
The picture quality also isnt the best but much better then i though.
Before buying i spend a long time searching the internet and shops and chose this for the battery life and the quality brand.
I think the price is about right for what you get - no complaints really.

Absolutely fantastic

This is my first portable DVD Player, and I am absolutely delighted with it. I use it each day, in my car, during my work breaks, and watch good Christian recordings which I have made on DVD from GOD TV.
The screen is a good size, picture is perfectly clear, and the sound is excellent using either portable speakers, which cost under £7, or through my car loudspeakers using a cordless FM receiver, which tunes in to my car radio.
I would certainly recommend this SONY portable DVD Player, although not the cheapest, excellent value for money, and will last many years, I'm sure. Remember, the cheapest is not necessarily the best!
