Very good value
Please ignore the other review regarding the processor - this is exactly the same as the one used by Dell, Toshiba and others in their entry dual cores except - for the same spec of memory, 2Gb the Acer is typically cheaper by about £50 - £80 on Amazon. Try finding another dual core with 2Gb memory anywhere for under £400. I bought this laptop for my daughter and she is very fussy about speed - no complaints so far. I have built my own PCs in the past so am not a technophobe. This laptop streams videos from You Tube and runs all the Microsoft office applications easily and is also very quiet - much more so than my work Thinkpad. Ignore the cheap celerons with 1Gb of memory for similar prices - you need a dual core with 2Gb of RAM to run multiple apps (office, MSN, You Tube etc) plus of course the memory hungry Vista Home Premium.

very good
didnt buy it from here but thought id leave a review anyway. is a very good laptop, great crystalbrite screen, it looks nice, runs fast and you can do several things at once without it even slowing down.
had no problems at all connecting to my existing wireless.
comes with a free trial of norton anti virus and microsoft office so will have to buy those some time.
burns both CDs and DVDs in case the description didnt make that clear.
keyboard is nice and easy to use.
comes with Vista which ive heard alot of bad things about but so far dont see the problem, its a much more updated and modern version of windows.
BUT be warned, amazon have put up a picture of a different model, the picture shows a crystaleye webcam, and navy blue trimming, but it actually does not come with crystaleye, and the trim is a lime green.
other than that they are identical.
Hope this helps.

Acer Aspire - annoying touch pad
Recently purchased the Aspire 5720Z - my 1st Acer laptop (always owned IBM's and Compaq's previously). My biggest issue with this manufacturer and design is that the touch pad is too big and too close to the actual keyboard compared to other makes. The touch pad is so sensitive that when you hover your fingers in the typing position the touch pad picks up the cursor and you end up typing in another part of the document or email. It is SO frustrating! For example, it has taken me 15 minutes to write this due to the cursor jumping all over page.
I wish someone had warned me prior to purchasing this make so thought I'd do the decent thing and write this review to pre-warn others.

beware vista
great value laptop, however bewarned about microsoft vista. my initial attempt to connect to my existing wireless modem failed. attempted to upgrade the modem software but this completely destroyed the modem, so had to buy a 'vista compatable' one. also office 2002 does not work correctly and my existing all in one printer, scanner, copier will only now print. vista also reduces the hard drive to around 40GB. the moral of this story is be prepared to upgrade your existing software and hardware.

Good value for money
A good value notebook does exactly what it says on the tin. Had no problems with Vista in fact it is much better than before, I was worried I might have to get my 8 year old son to show me how to use it but it is fairly fool proof. Battery life is not so good but the screen is nice to see and the keyboard lovely to type (and I should know as I am an audio typist by profession and type quite fast).
