So unhappy with Epson - 19.02.2008

(1 out of 5) by Geordie girl on Feb 19, 2008 (Essex !!)
I too had great difficulty in getting the print head to move when setting up the printer. Eventually did get inks loaded only to find when starting to print, the printer would just spew out 2 or 3 blank sheets. This also happened when printer was first switched on. Paper jamming was so frequent and so noisy, that it was really quite alarming (using good quality paper too). The finished print, either document or photo, was blurred and out of alignment on the right side of paper, despite my efforts at correcting this.
Epson did not even reply to my e-mail. Expect to get refund from Amazon, who so far have been excellent.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the prints!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. George Duthie on Aug 4, 2008 (Shetland)
Before buying this printer I read some of the reviews below and was nearly put off by some of the bad experiences some people had had, but never the less I went ahead and got the printer.

I have been very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the prints on 5x7 and CD's it was a little bit fiddly printing on the CD's but once you do the first one it's easy. So far so good I can recommend this printer to anyone.

OTHER REVIEWS RUBBISH!

(5 out of 5) by Ptarmigan on May 15, 2008 (Scotland)
Had I acted on some previous reviewers' opinions I might not have bought this product.Fortunately having had two Epson Stylus printers in the past I knew the Brand to provide excellent quality printing at a very reasonable price.

All my printers tend to get very hard use as I produce many photos and greetings cards in almost industrial quantities.

The R285 gives me even better quality than its predecessors. The print quality I have achieved with this printer is simply stunning.

The Stylus just aint what it used to be.

(1 out of 5) by presterjohn on Oct 8, 2008 (mozambique)
I have used Epson printers for over 12 years replacing them regularly every year or two (they really don't like compatable inks do they) All have been superb though even though until my old R200 gave up the ghost. I have had nothing but trouble from every model I have owned since then. They jam up they print far to darkly and compatable inks fail all the time in them. I won't be buying another Epson product.

Very Disappointing!

(1 out of 5) by 17470 on Feb 18, 2008
Ordered one of these - when it arrived it would not set up correctly - the print head failed to move, making it impossible to insert ink. Contacted EPSON helpline and was told that the sequence of error lights showing indicated a software problem. Returned item to Amazon for replacement, only to receive a second printer which immediately showed the same error status!! This has now been returned for refund.
