Easy-to-use

Canon CanoScan 8800F
Great product - I haven't used it heavily for an extended period yet but when I have used it for one-offs, the results have been fine and it's been easy-to-use. Therre's a lot of software bundled with the scanner (including Photoshop Elements which is very useful). If anything there's a little too much bundled software and not enough explanation of what each program does and its benefits over any other similar program. Thus great for techies but for people in a hurry to unpack and get going, a little arduous? A nice 'n' easy intro guide wouldn't go amiss even on a CD if it keeps the price down.

Easy to use software. I use is for 120 film scanning instead of paying for contact sheets or test prints and it works fine for that. The neg carriers are a bit flimsy but work. One thing to keep in mind is that you can only scan one strip of 120 film at a time but it doesn't take too long, i'd say no more than 2 min.

Slide scanner

(5 out of 5) by L. A. Witton on Sep 4, 2009
We wanted a slide scanner to convert our collection of slides to digital. This machine does 4 slides at a time and takes about 8 minutes to complete the process. It will be very time consuming to do our whole collection but the results are very good and, of course, you can 'tweak' the digital copies and improve them greatly! The scanner is easy to use and has many other functions which we haven't tried yet, as we already have a Canon MP600 scanner and printer.

This scanner is just what I was looking for. Easy setup and fast working. It scans black and white negatives very well ,as well as coloured ones.
It was delivered promptly too and I thought the price very reasonable for the quality of the scanner.
My old Scanner is a Canon and it has lasted me for years. It still works fine but I needed one that would do negatives as well.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this scanner to anyone looking for a good reasonable priced product.

Good scanner

(5 out of 5) by Jens Daabeck on Nov 19, 2009
I have now used it for scanning of over 1,000 images from b/w and colour prints, 4x4 and 35 mm negatives and a couple of slides. I am very happy with the results and its speed. The included SilverFast software is very useful.
