Not like a tin of Ronseal!

Quite unbelievable that Philips cocked up here. Someone in their product group needs to be eye-balled. In terms of a DAB radio that sits in your kitchen (a little wasted) or next to your bed...it deserves 6 stars out of 5 as others have mentioned. I was particularly amazed that it actually picked up a lot (including mainstream) of stations, despite living in a basin, where we just about get 3 terrestrial channels. Where it loses the 2 stars is not being good at the description dictated on the box. Sure, it wakes you up at the desired time. But BOY does it wake you up! When set to radio alarm, it wakes you with a default volume of >10 rather than a more neighbourly 6 or 7. As well, the guys responsible for the round display really weren't on the ball. It's either ON and lights your room up (quite nice blue when you get used to it) or completely OFF unless you press a button. Lastly, the instructions with regards to saving stations is wrong, and why in this day and age of Terabytes of data, can we only save 5 stations? But if you want a DAB radio for ~40quid, this is value for money. Looks nice too! Just remember to buy another alarm clock too or keep the old one.
Spot On

I bought this for the kitchen and am overwhelmed by the funky design, solid build and rich sound quality that comes from this radio. The bass is excellent and it had a really easy to use menu system. I can plug my iPhone into it which is a real bonus.
I would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone. The fact I managed to get it for £30 from another discount site (temporary offer has expired) was fantastic, but I'd happily pay the £45 Amazon are asking for knowing it was money well spent.
Have to agree...

...about the sound quality. I'd been putting off buying a digital radio but the combination of the price and the rave reviews here convinced me -- and I haven't been disappointed. The caveats about the alarm clock weren't a problem as I wanted the radio for the kitchen, and the incorrect setup instructions weren't too hard to decode (press Preset and Select at the same time to store). One odd thing, though -- the blurb above says that the radio has 10 DAB and 10 FM presets, when in fact there are only 5 of each. Not a big problem though -- I'm very happy with the radio and particularly happy that I bought it last week when it was only £24.99!

I was a bit apprehensive at buying this Phillips DAB radio but without foundation.
What a sound, what a sound+ What a sound.
Not really bothered about anything else, volume control could have a bit of grip on it + power button could be bigger. But even though it is built in China "what isn't these days" the quality has not suffered.
Great sound especially on planet rock, reflex speaker + 4 watts rms do the buisness.
Well worth the £40 i paid Amazon
Stylish radio, great sound but you can't control the alarm volume

This is a stylish radio and the DAB sound is great - a rich and full sound. But the major flaw is that the volume for the radio alarm cannot be adjusted. The factory setting is simply too loud and as such I am returning the product to Amazon. Philips have a great customer feedback section and confirmed within 24 hours that the sound level of the alarm volume cannot be changed. A major flaw in otherwise nice piece of kit.
