What a little marvel and good looking!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. N. Land on Dec 23, 2007 (Yorkshire, England)
I bought this camera 3 weeks ago and have taken about 500 images in all light conditions with very good results. I have owned a Fuji Finepix 410 for 4 years which still takes super quality pics, but when I saw this little beauty I just had to have it for the size alone! Smart, slim, easy to use and very elegant to look at, it's perfect for that night out with friends at a ball or dinner party. Software included is excellent and easy to set up complete with printing instructions. Images are v. good on the high quality settings and with a 512 MB picture card you get 250 plus images at 8M pixels. The usual great value too from Amazon.

Exceeds my expectations

(5 out of 5) by Ciixii on Feb 27, 2008 (England)
I chose the Fujifilm FinePix Z100fd as an upgrade on my old Fuji camera, after reading numerous reviews, some good, some indifferent, I was apprehensive as to whether I'd made the right choice, but I'm pleased to report that it exceeds my expectations.
I also bought the I-nique 'GeeBee' small pink camera case, which is just the right size to hold the Z100 and is lined with soft pink suede like material and has straps to hold the camera in place and a carabina to attach it to a belt or bag.
I've only had my Z100 a couple of days but the red-eye removal and facial recognition works a treat and it also took good indoor photos in low light on the automatic setting. I'm looking forward to trying all the other modes and settings and seeing how well they work.
I am a basic 'point and shooter' not an expert, so realise my expectations may be much lower than others, so thought, instead of writing a review, it would be more helpful to take some photos with the camera and let people judge how good or bad the camera is from the photos it produced, outdoors, late afternoon in February.

lots of fun

(4 out of 5) by Zoidberg6 on Dec 17, 2007
Depending on your expectations, it's still a compact camera and not an SLR with a professional lens. I carried it arround in my pocket and nothing got dented. I think it's a top quality camera, which deserves to be handled with just a little care. Picture quality is absolutely cool, once you start using the predefined programs. To me it was important to have a good looking and slim camera that I can take along anytime and which provides decent snapshot quality.

bought this blind but am glad I did!

(4 out of 5) by Kay Leslie on Dec 15, 2007 (Scotland)
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of reviews for this camera, and, while I've only had mine for a couple of weeks, I thought I'd let other potential buyers have the chance to read a review before Christmas.

So you know what background I have, I upgraded from a Panasonic LC70 (aka brick), with 4MP.

Positives:

Looks really cool
Has some good modes - auto and natural/flash (where it takes 2 simultaneously, one with, one without flash)
Small
Good zoom levels
Intuitive controls
Light
Huge screen
Good Stabilisation

Gripes:

Can sometimes be a bit grainy - wasn't expecting that from an 8MP
Face detection doesn't really work

I'll edit this if anything goes majorly wrong - hope it helped!

Poor night quality

(3 out of 5) by Callistoangel on Mar 22, 2008 (Republic of Ireland)
I bought this camera on the basis that it was simple to use and good for someone whose photos aren't always the steadiest i.e. because of the double anti-blur function. However while the daylight photos are fantastic, night shots or any taken using the "party" or "night" modes do not give the same result, which is very disappointing.

On the plus side, it really is only slightly bigger than a mobile phone and consequently fits handily into any purse or bag - perfect for parties, weddings etc. And the zoom function is great (but again, really only in clear daylight - night shots can be problematic).

On the whole, I'd recommend it, but not if you tend to be a night-time photographer!
