The pixie within the camera does a 1st rate job of painting the image fast and you only need to feed him the occassional bourbon biscuit to keep him happy. Beware using custard creams as this can lead to an unresponsive pixie.

Compact and easy to use

It's very easy to use with well structured menus and several modes to suit everyone. Just want a camera to sort everything out for you - this camera has an intelligent automatic mode. Want to have a bit more control - the camera has aperture and shutter priority modes. There isn't a full manual mode, but for a small compact with semi-automatic modes suit me. Whether you want to make your own settings or trust the camera to sort it out for you, it's a good reliable camera.
Where Fuji's often excel is the performance in low light conditions. The high ISO performance of the camera is impressive for a compact like this. It won't compete with high priced DSLRs of course but in it's class it easily out-performs cameras from other manufacturers.
It has a video mode that records nice quality video - just get a tripod to avoid shake! It's hard to hold a small camera still enough. It's a camera that can be slipped in a bag to be carried around every day without adding a bulk of weight or size.

(5 out of 5) by S. R. Palmer on Sep 11, 2009 (UK)After owning a Fujifilm FinePix F40fd, which sadly got broken, i looked for them online and found that 2 years later they can only be brought for the same Price as i had previous one. So i saw this,and saw a refurbished one and thought i'd get it.
Many more features than the F40fd, such as auto redeye reduction, Multiple pix and other manual settings. Thoroughly enjoyed using this camera! and this time i'll make sure it doesn't get damaged!

Arrived with manual in German, but an English version on disc was sent by return when this was reported, so I am very happy to recommend the seller as well as the product.
