Excellent Value for Money

(5 out of 5) by Mrs. Emma McInerney on Jan 28, 2008 (Manchester, UK)
I have had a FujiFilm F610 for the last few years and have been happy with it but it is starting to look a bit dated and wanted a new one for Christmas. Excellent price for the F50 on Amazon! I have used it a lot since christmas and am really impressed with the quality of the pictures, especially in low light. Much easier to navigate around all the functionality than I found on my previous Fuji camera, which makes it even better for a relative novice like myself. Would recommend to anyone.

Solid dependable performance as ever from Fujifilm

(5 out of 5) by C. F. Ledger on Jan 28, 2009 (Sheffield, UK)
This is my fourth Fuji camera and as ever the hexagonal sensor in a Fuji gives stunning results. I have a DSLR and 2 compacts which have always also given stunning results and the 12m Sensor in this has been cut+shut out of their more high spec DSLR's. I visit the Photography Show at the NEC each year and don't forget that many NIKON models also contain Fuji sensors so they must be doing something right. For many years particular NIKON and FUJI DSLR's were exactly the same camera with a badge change(!).

The reason I bought this camera is the size, resolution, functions, excellent video quality and ease of use when going on holiday, trips, and events where the size of a DSLR (+ bag) is more prohibitive to carry and move around.

This camera has full auto, aperture + shutter priority, and full manual. It then has the excellent Face Detection software (hence the F50FD suffix) which is a bonus when photographing people as it prevents the background from being more in focus than the subjects!!

It also takes SD-HC cards as well as xD cards (which are losing ground). Which means it's easier to get higher capacity SD-HC cards (via Bluejamgem on Ebay, now there's a plug for them!)

The Program Scene Modes of Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Nightime (etc) also give excellent results.

I therefore have no hesitation in recommending this camera to anybody. It has it all and gives reliable photos and videos time and time again.

Super Camera!

(5 out of 5) by M. Bridger on May 23, 2008 (UK)
Toss up between this & the Canon Ixus 75. Decided to go for this as I wanted a bit more than point & click. I used to have a Canon Powershot A95 & this completely walks all over it. The colours are miles better. Heartily recommended to anyone who wants a lot in a small package.

Awesome

(5 out of 5) by Anne-Elizabeth Le Sauvage on Jan 22, 2008
I ignored the bad reviews when I bought this camera, and I'm so glad I did. I have a fuji s5700 as well but i needed something with portability in mind.
The lcd isn't perfect but it's more than decent. I haven't tried the face detection yet but all the other functions are of great quality, and i can't wait to get my waterproof case to take it in my mates pool and in the sea.
I recommend this to anyone.

(this quality for that price? insane to pass this up).

Buy the f40fd instead

(2 out of 5) by Mr. Jb Stewart on Jan 2, 2008 (Scotland)
I was in the market for a new digital camera. I wanted one that would fit in my pocket but still take good pictures. So after a little bit of hunting around I spotted a review for the F40FD on the Gadget Show web site.

I then looked up the F40 and spotted for the same money I could get the F50 from Amazon. So, I figured to myself, that must be a better camera, I'll take the upgrade.

Turns out this was a massive mistake! The picture quality of the F50 is terrible, they are all fuzzy and just make me want to throw the F50 out of the window. Learn from my mistake and buy the F40 instead.

The F50FD is just not good enough...in fact it's not even "good"
