The Best Digital TV Recorder out there......
These reviews certainly helped me purchase this item and everything said is 100% true. I had mine delivered not soo long ago and its superb!
Set-up - sooo easy - my girlfriend did it when I was out, and she is no whizz on technology - plug it in and play!
Easy of use - Very easy, one button recording, SERIES link is now included, press record once and never miss an episode of family guy
Picture - Excellent. And it has picture in picture - watching two channels at once.
TV Guide - Brilliant, find a programme - one touch record and you have the whole series, also you can search for programmes by name or genre - type in 'simp' and all the simpsons episodes will be listed for next severn days. Go to film genre and all films are listed for next seven days - just tap record and they are locked in.
Only issues I have with it are, its a bit slow loading the tv guide up - very minor issue though - once loaded it is very fluid and easy to use. It does make a very slight noise this is ONLY a problem if in your bedroom or close to your bed, you would not notice if in your lounge.
Lovely product, buy one today - TV is much better with it.

Definitely worth considering but still has a few problems...
Although this PVR is very capable, I think it's worth pointing out a few of its foibles:
1: When recording two programmes simultaneously, it may not be possible to view certain channels at the same time due to station multiplexing. If you are upgrading from an old freeview box and have a spare SCART socket, it may be worth keeping the old one connected so that you can still watch your desired proggy.
It's ironic that, after years of only being able to record one programme at a time onto a VCR, as soon as you have the ability to record two progs simultaneously, it just does not seem enough!
2: The timer can play up, so if you are recording something important that you know you will want to keep, I think it's worth recording it manually instead of relying upon the programme guide. I have lost the end of quite a few films because of this (which is VERY annoying!).
There is a 'padding' feature that theoretically adds up to 5 minutes to the beginning/end of each recording to ensure that you get the entire programme, however, this is not 100% reliable. Be warned!
I recently recorded a two hour film using the schedule function but when I checked it the next day, I had an eight hour recording!
3: The editing functions are not very logical. Instead of selecting a 'start point' for your recording that automatically deletes the recording up to that point, the Humax incorporates a very unwieldy editing system that requires you to enter start and end points which can then be 'trimmed'. I would strongly suggest that you experiment with a recording that you are going to delete before you try to edit anything important.
Don't get me wrong, I like this recorder - I have just stopped relying on it to do exactly what I want in my absence.

Excellent
Really easy to use. Outstanding set of features. Will definitely change the way you watch TV. In addition to all of this I understand there will be an 'Over The Air' software upgrade to give this machine 'Freeview Group 2' features mid January 2008 - a first for any freeview PVR. All in all a great purchase.

Sliced bread better watch out!
Buy one! No. Buy two..
Fantastic. I spent an age pondering over the purchase of a dvd recorder with integrated freeview...Thank all that is good and holy that I plumped for the Humax!!
It took a mere two minutes to set up, another minute to claibrate itself and another 30 seconds for me to enjoy.
For the money I am pretty sure there is no more perfect machine than this. Twin Tuners, EPG, 160gb hard drive....Ambassador, with these features you are spoiling us.
Hurrah to Humax.
