recording

(4 out of 5) by hermit on Dec 18, 2007 (uk)
If I wanted to record two programmes I can only record one programme and would have to watch the other. Is this normal? I was told you could record 2 and watch a 3rd?

Not impressed

(2 out of 5) by Micky on Apr 19, 2008
I bought this pvr on the recomendation of the gadget show last year as the best freeview recorder out there, as it the first pvr I have had I don't know how it compares to overs but it has some serious flaws.
The most important feature that this does not have is that it has no reminder facility so that it will remind you when a program you want to watch is about to start, even my £20 old freeview box had this facility.
Despite what it said on the gadget show it has no series link function, they did put out an appology afterwards saying that this function was not available yet but it would be included in a software update in January. It is now April and there has been no update yet.
The program guide is also very slow to update, it can take upto 20 mins to show all the channels which is very annoying.

Maybe other pvrs out there are even worse but for the price of this and from the people recomending it I am not impressed at all.

Don't believe these other reviewers.......

(1 out of 5) by Mr Bean on Aug 1, 2008 (London UK)
I would like to take issue with the other reviewers of this product that praised it to the rafters and convinced me to buy it. Well all I can say is I wonder how many of them actually work for Humax! Thank heavens for Argos as they took this heap of rubbish back without any quibbles exactly one week after I bought it.

To all those positive reviewers, please tell me what you think of a product that freezes at least once a day less than two days after you bought it? Why would you recommend such cr*p to others? The only way I found to fix it is to unplug it! So much for all those improvements in the software one of you was praising. I'm afraid you have totally destroyed my faith in these types of reviews so thanks very much for that, too.

To anyone considering buying one of these boxes - DON'T!!!! However, if you decide to ignore me then buy it from your local Argos store (sorry, Amazon) because at least if it does predictably go wrong within the first 30 days they'll take it back with no moans - and hopefully dump all over Humax for supplying such junk - without you having to go through the trouble of going to the post office.

[Please note that I intend to post this review on the other sites I visited in trying to choose a PVR so that all those 'reviewers' get the message as well - even if they're the same ones?!]

Fantastic machine, but......

(3 out of 5) by Kitaj on Nov 16, 2009 (Sunny UK)
I've had one of these for two years now. It is brilliant and I wouldn't be without it except..... when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. Ours has stopped recording and I can't access recorded programmes or use any of the recording features, despite resetting the whole machine. Which makes it pretty redundant really. After two years! So not really that impressed.....then to cap it all contacting Humax is virtually a waste of time. I suggest that before you buy one you check out the Humax Troubleshooting sites and you will find that there are a range of glitches which are unresolvable without help - which you can't get... So I would say 5 stars when it's working (although the slow loading EPG is a bit of a pain)and 0 stars when it's not. Do you want to risk it?
