After considering a portable digital music player for a while, I decided to get this, principally because it is inexpensive and plays OGG Vorbis files. It's about the size of a forefinger and looks very nice in white. The screen is very bright and clear and is excellent in all lighting conditions. The touch controls are easy to use and intuitive, requiring only the lightest of touches to operate. The menu system is also intuitive and quick, making it very easy to move around the player's menus and select music. Now we get to the important part: the sound quality. My word, it's excellent! I honestly can't believe how good it is for the price and size of device; the presets and equaliser enable you to tailor the sound to your preferences or a music genre, e.g. Rock, Pop etc. The radio, which is a bonus (but I admit that I didn't expect it to work well), actually is brilliant. It gets a good signal and the sound quality is very good. I'm very pleased with this player. It's much better than I had expected for the price. The only two issues I have with it are minor:
* The U.S.B. connector is a bit flimsy, so it's wise to be careful and not knock the device when it's connected to a U.S.B. socket (the connector can be retracted inside the player, otherwise).
* You can't organise the music by tag if you don't use the software included, which means that the music appears on the player by file name and it's necessary to scroll through the list to find a track, though the fast menu system mitigates this problem somewhat.
It even works with Linux, being mounted as a U.S.B. storage device: simply drag the music files to the appropriate file on the player.
All-in-all, it's excellent for the money. I recommend it whole-heartedly!
Great Value
I bought this about 4 weeks ago and I've been delighted with it. The installation of the software on my PC was very straightforward and the software is very easy to use once you get used to a few quirky features - adding files that you've downloaded or copying from PC to the player or uploading files from CD and burning CDs is very easy.
The player itself is exactly the same length as my cigarette lighter and only slightly wider and thicker. Nevertheless the screen is very clear and you can scroll through the list of files very quickly and it's easy to select the one you want. Most keys are touch sensitive so you have to keep your fingers clear if you don't want to accidentally select another track or change the volume. Again, although the player is easy to use it takes a little while to get used to it.
The sound quality is great and it even has features to let you profile the sound to your own taste - it's even got a graphic equaliser. I could do with the volume going a bit higher though, and the ear plugs don't fit my ears very well although they seem ok for other people.
All in all excellent value for money and I entirely recommend it.
