No Optical In - Not Good for Xbox or PS3.
System has no optical input, so is pretty much useless if you want to hook up your 360 or PS3.

Good piece of kit
Bought this largely based on other reviews and the price is great for the amount of features that are included. I christened it with Transformers and the speakers handled the job well, particularly the rear speakers.
One thing I would add is to check the size of the rear speakers before you purchase as I find them a little over bearing in the room, but they are worth it for the sound quality.Excellent picture as well.

Good value for money until it breaks down! Will NOT buy PHILIPS
I bought this philips system *slightly* more than a year ago. It was a bit more expensive than it is now, but it's still a very reasonable price. The sound quality is within expectation. The response is quite slow though, e.g. it takes a while to load a disk or simply ejecting it from the player.
However, it has been developing problems since a few weeks ago. Once pressing the standby button on remote control, the unit will not respond anymore. Sometimes, it just dead, not responding at all. I phoned philips regarding this problem and was told it was *possibly* a problem with the remote control. I was suggested to buy a new remote control without knowing its real cause, which will cost me 46 quid. Because it was 10 days out of 1 year warranty period, I can not have this fixed for free. The guy said I need to pay 250 pounds to get it collected, fixed, and returned!!! Please remind me how much does a brand new unit cost? It's appalling.
So, yes it's cheap, but if it breaks down after a year you'd better throw it away (after which you have to buy a new one. then the question is which one you will buy? if not philips, why now?)
A good deal? Think again!

Sound Quality ?
On the whole a good Product, But When You first turn on the system it does hiss a little for a while and then improves gradually over 2-3 mins. Sound from the rear speakers could be better. For the money its okay. but buy a adaptor for a 2 pin plug.

Region Free?
Despite the product description, it's not region free. other than that, it's OK. Oh, and it comes with a European, 2 pin Plug.
So if you want region free DVD goodness and a UK 3 pin plug, don't get this.
