This unit's sound and picture quality is more than decent. Playing a DVD gives you vivid colours with the HD upscaling and the sound production cannot be faulted. You really get that all important cinema feel. Playing music, and here, the USB port is a master-stroke, you get the crisp rich sound with a rich bass from the sub-woofer. My only gripe is that the speakers and SW look very plain and Philips could and should have made more of an effort on the aesthetics front considering that this is a very visible piece of furniture in the living room.

Bought this the other day & I'm extremely happy with it. Very easy to set up. DVDs play back with crystal clarity, 1080 upscaling is very good on movies & recent TV. Sound is excellent. Only complaints are; the remote is a little crowded & like all HDMI products it doesn't come with an HDMI lead.

set up was easy although rear speakers could do with a little more cable length. However only issue I have is it states multi region capable but my region 1 dvd's dont work in it. Someone mentioned a code on the amazon site but cant find it anywhere. Other than that kit is great.

ordered on monday and chose free delivery. arrived on wednesday. had read some of the reviews and was of two minds about buying this product but now i have it i am really glad i risked it. so far havn't noticed any humming of the speakers and sound is great. i was also worried as someone said it came with a 2 pin plug. this was not the case with my system it cam with the normal 3 pin uk plug. great product. highly recomend it and the price is great.

What a hidden gem this turned out to be...
I have been looking for a reasonably priced home theatre system since I already have the Phillips 1080p upscaling dvd player...so didnt think it made much sense in overspending on a home cinema system when I already own half the components.

amazing sound, sleek tall boy speakers, fantastic picture that has come to life with vibrant colours. Even the low quality cd's sound great. AND cheaper here on amazon than anywhere else I looked.
