Viewed a wide screen monitor down in the local PC store and was immediately impressed, not with their prices however. So came on to the Amazon site once again and as usual these days read all the reviews etc., for the next 3-10 days or so. (always trying to get the best value for money!!) I finally settled on this Acer X222W 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor and yet again have not been disappointed with my choice. The pictures just jump out at you and the colours, detail are all so much better that my old 19" version. Contrast radio is superb and that's all there is to it! Not much else to say really. A screen is a screen. What I will say is that I enjoy reading the impartiality of the reviews here prior to buying anything and I believe in giving what help with my small input so that others may benefit as I did. Without all the tech gargon the fact is this is a big screen that is enjoyable to work at with your desktop. As far as I'm concerned there will be no more eye strain. Life is good again. All IMHO of coarse.

As far as connectivity is concerned it doesn't come any easier than the ACER X222W, both VGA and DVI connectors and it comes supplied with both types of cable. Bright colours and a crisp clear picture makes all of your pictures and movies look great. The inbuilt speakers are not the most powerful. The design of the X222W is sleek and the reflective black/grey casing is pleasing and gives the X222W the look of a more expensive item. Value for money and a good well built feel. An excellent upgrade that enhancers your Vista experience.

But my goodness me this screen just blew me away. The picture quality was superb and is really unrivaled by the more expensive screens. The contrast ratio is superb and infact it is really much better than my t.v. downstairs. The screen itself looks stunning. Despite the display image for this screen on amazaon, this screen for me was all black unlike the black/ sliver display picture. There isn't much to say other than that.

Although the vga cable was a bit of a pain to put into the back of the moniotr. Unfortunately the biggest downfall for this screen is the fact that the intergrated speakers are terrible. They do produce decent sound but absolutely no base and nowwhere near good enough to listen to any type of music or movies. Acer must have just included it for the sake of it.
To be honest though your not buying this screen for the quality of the speakers but for the quality of the screen. And i can say quite overwhelmingly that this screen does excel in this department. People out there please don't settle for a 17 inch or 20 inch monitor please buy this screen and don't let the "acer" brand or the price fool you this is a top quality near hd quality screen, with a sleek and sexy glossy exterior.

Another bonus feature of this screen is that it has a vga and dvi (although i don't know what type of dvi it is) input and comes supplied with both cables. One last thing is that this is a 22" screen and it is going to take a bit of space. Once its there though on your table it will just make you smile, it is really very beautiful, sleek and modern.
Ladies and Gentleman this is a fantastic screen that would make the prefect addition to anyones desktop. And hey buy a tv tuner and you could use this perfectly as your own tv and entertainment system.
Hope this rather long review was useful to you all (by the was chek out youtube i think someone below me has posted a video on it with this screen there you can appreciate the quality of the screen).

Bought this monitor after much searching on the net and reading reviews.

Arrived the following day and believe me is took longer to get the monitor out of the box, than setting it up.

What a doddle to set up. It took 5 minutes and i'm not a computer wizard.

I bought this 22" tft monitor for doing every day computer tasks and for my digital photography hobby. The choice was down to the contrast and resolution. This monitor is fab and the pics on the monitor are razor sharp, which helps when using photoshop cs2.

I'm delighted I bought a wide screen monitor, and a very good investment for the future.

I cannot fault this monitor apart from the internal speakers are quite poor. You would need to buy seperate speakers if you want to listen to quality sound from music or movies.

5 stars to acer.

I bought this item to play with my PS3. The style and shiny border make totally match with ps3.

I don't use the built-in speakers, so no comment on that.

This monitor runs on 1080p HD quality with ps3. It is very bright, clear and high quality. Much better than my friend's 32" lcd tv.

Seriously, if you are planning to buy monitor for ps3, get this. I have to admit that I had some problem setting up with ps3 at first but I can help anyone with this. I'm very very happy with this product. Worth paying this. Didn't expect this much for acer.
