no 'advanced' user manual just CD

(4 out of 5) by Mr. C. A. Moat on Aug 23, 2007 (Kent)
Recently purchased and camera seems fine so far apart from the limitation of not providing an 'advanced' user manual, other than a CD, so if you want to experiment with your camera, you either have to be next to your PC, or print off half a ream of paper, or contact another company to buy one, ridiculous. You get one in the States apparently.

Good camera but with better alternatives!

(3 out of 5) by H. A. Kevitiyagalage on Dec 25, 2007 (Dundee, Scotland)
I got this camera few months ago after doing lots of research. It is well made and packed with many exiting features with relatively good picture quality and easy to use manual controls. However I expected more from this camera than what it offered me such as the picture quality. Ever since I brought this camera I started to regret the fact that I didn't buy a SLR because the price difference is not massive. The size is also the same and you can't take both in night outs. and when compared with a digital SLR there is a massive difference in the quality even when auto mode is used.

Due to these reasons I got a Canon 400D which I'm currently in love with, even though I'm a amateur and got a cash back from canon which made it cheap. I wouldn't recommend to purchase this product as there is no need of a point and shoot camera this big as there are SLR's for nearly the same price with a much better value.

Good camera

(4 out of 5) by JGA on Sep 7, 2008
This is a really good camera, depending what you want. It is more of a jack of all trades in that an SLR has better image quality and a traditional compact is easier to carry around. But that was the reason I bought it. I need something a can carry that takes up little room - to get that I'd need multiple lenses etc.
It really isn't fair to compare with a DSLR - if you want one buy one - but if you want to try something more advanced than a point and shoot have a look at this.

easy Canon camera

I have just purchased this camera from Amazon and as I am not an expert photographer I find it very easy to understand and use. The quality of the photo's is good and I would recommend it

Fantastic Camera

(4 out of 5) by surreal illusions on Feb 6, 2009 (uk)
This camera I've had now for over a year and it still brings me joy everytime I use it. Like others have said, the lens cover and battery/memory card cover are a bit flimsy and the strap is a bit tricky to get on securely, but the rest of the camera I cant fault. The 12x zoom is really great and very useful. 8m pixels isnt that many considering mobile phones nowadays have 5-8m pixels, but this camera still packs a punch and produces some great photos.

It took me a few weeks to get used to completely and to figure out how to use it effectively, but this is my first 'proper' camera. My previous was a coolpix 5200.

For a compact camera, this is great buy. If your after something that takes raw, hdr effect stuff and wanting to take photos of the moon's surface from your bedroom, then this isnt the camera for you. But if you want a camera that takes great photos, is easy to use and, looks like one but isnt priced like a dslr, then this one to go for.
