Market leader for price
I have used a Tom Tom Go and Navman, which both disappointed. They disappointed because U-turns on motorways and turning into no entry roads is illegal.
I'm a mobile engineer in Essex and I drive a lot and this device hasn't put a foot wrong and has the function to 'avoid' U-turns, which to date hasn't asked me to preform one unless absolutely needed.
Post code search is very accurate and the device literally will take you to the doorstep of your destination.
The preloaded speed camera database is accurate and up to date and to be honest has saved my license from 3 points already!
Lane finding is easy as the device directs to e.g. "keep right" and also when to exit large round-abouts.
Points of interests are plentiful and is easy to add your own.
Mp3 and voice-calling functions perfectly, as long as the device is connected to the car stereo via either an aux-in or by an FM transmitter (I use Kensington Universal FM Transmitter, 5* reccommended). The built-in speaker on its own lacks punch.
If your going to get the Traffic accessory, I would probably point you in the direction of the 610T from Curry's as it's only £222 and you get the wide-screen (which is also brighter) and the Traffic accessory. The traffic accessory retails at £134.99 on it's own!!
If your not wanting the bigger screen or Traffic accessory, I definitely recommend this! My grandparents own the Nuvi 610T, my girlfriend's dad also uses this and her brother uses the Nuvi 300 and we all give the Garmin Nuvi sat-navs the thumbs-up!!
To note the difference between the 310/610 and the 360/660, is the latter says the street name rather just turn left e.g. 310/610: "turn left in .3 mile" 360/660 "turn left in .3 mile into Princes Street". The 310/610 still displays the street name on the screen, the voice just doesn't say it.

Navgation, bluetooth, and extras? All in one unit!!!!
I am really pleased with my purchase. Having previously used factory fitted navigtion, I will never add as an option on any vehicle!
The navigation is excellent, very easy to use, and precise. The ability to connect my mobile via the Bluetooth is really useful. It even let me upload my phonebook (no mean feat considering I use a Blackberry!!). There are a host of additional features which will prove to be useful in the future, including the option to include software for language translation.
OK, so the advert claims to have European mapping, but having read the reviews, I was aware this wasn't included, but to be honest, this is a superb deal!!!

Garmin Nuvi 310
Excellent product. Does more than I need. Very speedy and accurate. Unlike some other brands, Maps for Ireland in the supplied GB package include the South and not just the North.
This is really useful when living in Ireland.
Only downside there is no AC Mains charger supplied as standard and must be purchased as an extra. The Unit will however charge via PC cable but this is inadequate when travelling etc....Jamesy.

Sat Nav and Hands Free in one package
This little box would get five stars for the Sat Nav functions on their own. When you add the excellent hands free capability which enables you to select a number from the downloaded phone book on the touch screen, you really have value for money. The sound quality of the hands free function is excellent considering the size of the unit and I have found the built in microphone to be more than adequate.
Select somewhere new to eat from the menu system and then let the Sat Nav direct you there after ringing the place to make a reservation on the hands free - great use of technology and it works!

good kit
I have owned this two weeks and i wish I'd bought it a month earlier as i am convinced my 3 penalty points for speeding in aberdeen could have been avoided.
I really love this - it computes new routes if you make a mistake or the road is closed.
It gives an ETA which it constantly updates as you drive so if you know you will arrive on time there is no need to rush.
There is no more map reading needed so you keep on the move until you reach your destination.
It tells you all the cameras fixed and mobile on a stretch of road in plenty of time to slow down or check your speed.
It has a built in MP3 player and it can be expanded.
I am intending to take this to Northern Ireland on business. I dont know my way around and it will help me find my way around of that I am sure.
