Great phone but Carphone warehouse sell an O2 version of this phone for £99. O2 DONT lock their phones, Im currently using mine with my old Orange sim, just plugged it in and hey presto.
overpriced here
I am just about to buy this phone from T mobile for £99.95 They will unlock the phone for £19.95 so it it a lot cheaper to buy this phone, brand new, from a high street store.
K800i - Too Many Faults
I previously owned a K750i for a couple of years(great phone) and in comparison the K800 is very poor on the faults front.
To name but a few... probably the most annoying ones:
1. the navigation joy stick works intermittantly
2. the Pre-emptive vocab is mad... offering non readable words or words such as "ye" as the 1st option instead of the most commonly used "we" ... are sony erricson trying to tell us they are still in the dark ages!!
3. the dedicated key to connect to the web is too close to a regularly used key.. the 'go back' key and easily pressed in error. Plus, as it's a one press operation, which you might think as really handy, means you can end up being connected to the net with out noticing, if you happen to brush the key as just before putting the phone down and before the auto key lock has has a chance to kick in.
4.the diary keeps swapping numbers between contacts ie a friend from work rang me, I couldn't answer at the time so rang her back later... it said it was connecting to the person who had rang earlier, but actually used another contacts number...potentially v.embarrassing!!
I've had the phone 3 weeks and will be getting a more user friendly phone asap to replace it...As you can probably guess I don't like the K800i
Brilliant phone!
I've bought this phone through the Vodafone site at £90.00!
That aside, it is a wonderful phone. Great features including a 3.2mp camera - which is probably the best you can get on pay as you go and for a "point and click" camera. It doesn't have a lot of flashy extras but what the camera does have is great (just don't expect much from the digital zoom).
The phone itself is packed full of features including an organiser (which synchronises with MS Outlook and MS Address), games, checking and sending email, internet access, radio, MP3 player, and so on.
If you are on pre-pay and can spare £90.00 then this could well have everything you need.
Very good phone, a minor flaws
What's Good:
This is a great phone in most respects. It is reliable and hard wearing. I have dropped my phone many times and it had never yet broken and is hardly scratched at all. It has a decent sized memory in the phone itself. It can hold about 60 pictures and a few songs. The photos are of very good quality considering it is a camera phone, I often use my phone instead of my camera. It is really easy to use with all the normal Sony Ericsson features and a few new added ones.
Whats Bad:
The battery life could be better; it normally lasts about 2 and a half to 3 days. The sound isn't great but considering it isn't one of the walkman phones it is still pretty good. The sliding cover for the camera sometimes slides off although not that often. It is also quite big and chunky.
Overall a very good phone with only a few tiny flaws.
