Good but try and listen first
(4 out of 5) by paul on Oct 7, 2009 (cheshire)Wanting a 5.1 speaker package I was very tempted by this package and all of the 5* reviews. As I am keen on music and enjoy a certain style of sound (my two channel hifi is entry level Linn), I wanted to listen first before buying.
So I popped along to those nice chaps at Sound and Vision near Bolton to listen to these speakers. Well they are nice - but they are very small and you can't defy the laws of physics. I came away with a set of the Kef 5.1 speakers. The Kef's are a little larger and more than twice the price but I was very happy with my choice.
So - these are great value at the price point but they are compromised by a lack of mid-range and I would recommend listening before you buy.
That having been said if you like the Bose-style sound and have a tight limit in terms of budget or space these are a nice little package.

Very well made,though -would have given five stars but for the lack of user friendly instructions.
As these are the first surround speakers I`ve had,could not say if they are better than full size speakers - but they sound very good.

Superb value for money.
(5 out of 5) by S. Hunt on Sep 19, 2009Given the price and size of these speakers, the sound quality and build quality are both excellent.
Of course there are sonic compromises. In common with all speakers this small, the satellites' limited bass response leaves the subwoofer to handle undesirably high bass frequencies (everything below 150Hz). That frequency is too high to render the subwoofer "directionless", so don't expect a perfect stereo soundstage. That said, the satellites do actually go a bit lower than the specs say. My Yamaha's auto-calibration routine set the sub crossover to a surprising 110Hz. I did some experiments with a test tone CD and found 130-140Hz is probably a better compromise. For my amp and my room and my ears, anyway.

Excellent value for money

I read the review and all seems to be giving a positive feedback, so i decided to go for it. I have to say i am not disappointed. The speakers are lovely and got a good finish. the subwoofer tought bit big it works fine. I still have to configure it correctly, but the sound is still amazing. for the price it is excellent value. go for it :)

(5 out of 5) by Lm Khan on Aug 9, 2009 (Amsterdam)I've just completed my Home Cinema setup which consists of a 32" Samsung LCD TV, a PS3, an Onkyo TX-SR577 amp and now this speaker system. The sound these speakers produce is extremely crisp and punchy however the settings need to be tweaked in order for the treble not to be overwhelming. Once these are properly setup though these speakers sound excellent... That and the build quality is very good too.
You won't find a better sound/build for the price! The only downside is that they don't come with speaker cables but that said, you always have to buy good speaker cable seperately anyway.
