disappointing ...

(2 out of 5) by Gabrielle Bowie on Jan 4, 2008 (England)
Already have a Panasonic hard-drive dvd recorder (EX75)downstairs, and it's superb.
I bought the EZ47 for the bedroom, and also because I wanted to transfer some of my videos onto dvd.
Disappointed for 2 reasons:
1. It suddenly bursts into life in the middle of the night, whirring away for several seconds and waking us both up. I can't find any apparent reason for this.
2. Although it boasts no loss of picture quality when transferring from video onto dvd, the fact is that if you watch any video on a lovely new flatscreen tv - the picture quality is rubbish anyway. The dvd copies are therefore rubbish as well. I hadn't realised this before, having only watched dvds on the flatscreen. Video is very old-tec now,and doesn't stand up to the new tv technology. This copying function was therefore a waste of time for me, as video-quality film is unwatchable on my telly.

dvd video combo

a real disappointment - does not play any of my pre-recorded or home made video collection - picture jumps; has been back under guarantee and video head assembly replaced but still the problem remains; local dealer insists it is working and panasonic fail to respond to my requests for support and assistance; dvd plays/records fine but one to avoid in my experience

Good but does not last

(2 out of 5) by Mr. P. Tripcony on Mar 9, 2009 (Cornwall U.K.)
I purchased one of these about 2yrs ago, and as Gajet reviewed here it packed up about 18mnths heartbreaking as I had not used it much for VHS DVD transfer only light use, it has not a scratch on it, but just developed a fault and it will not recognise the reset feature which renders it useless and expensive to repair, I asked a local repair centre for an estimate but they want half the cost of it just to look at it, so uneconomical repair. I am looking for a replacement but would not go for Panasonic again. I give it 2 stars as when it was going it was good.

Better than other 'easy to use' machines.

Excellent delivery - before breakfast on day after order. Simple to set up, and easy to use basic functions. Clear instructions. Good quality picture (albeit on 26" LCD)

General comment ref.my Panasonic DVD Recorder experience

(1 out of 5) by Gajet on Nov 21, 2008
Not directly relevant to this model but I've had three Panasonic DVD recorders in the past few years i.e. one DMR-RES10 and two DMR-ES20 and they each became unuseable just after the manufacturer's guarantees had expired.
No extended warranties had been purchased and the tuner expired on the first and the others became unable to read my disks.
I'd chosen Panasonics because they are one of the very few on the market that are able to record and play DVD-RAM disks.....my favourite for editing because they don't need to be "finalized" as with DVD-RW.
