I bought the Corsair Survivor because I accidentally bent my Sandisk Cruzer Micro in a bicycle pannier, and I decided that since it was the third USB stick to get destroyed this way I needed something much stronger. So this one seemed like the ideal choice!
I was delighted to find that this USB stick had an excellent level of build quality, and that feels sturdy in the hand (as you would expect with an aluminium USB stick). However, when I removed the metal casing I felt slightly let down by the fact that the end of the USB socket is not better protected. I would have expected more than just a rubber seal to protect it against the inevitable wear and tear of using it every day (and the occasional bicycle wheel).
I have found the speed of this stick to be average, in a non-scientific test I found that the Sandisk Cruzer has a faster copying speed, but lets face it, the build quality more than makes up for this slight disadvantage. One which you most likely would never notice.
Overall, I would highly recommend buying the Corsair Survivor 8GB even though it is more expensive than the competition. At the end of the day - you get what you pay for (sorry for the cliché).

Good but not that good
I have owned one of these for a year. Very strong and rugged whilst in its case (which is pretty big)but when it accidently got a gentle knock whilst plugged into the front of a PC(which with its long length is always going to happen sooner or later)it broke and now does not work at all. Actually turns out to be quite expensive, not terribly strong waste of money.

Good product overall, one concern.
I purchased a Survivor just over a year ago and overall it has suited me well, its not the fastest memory stick around but it is one of the toughest.
The removable case design does make it a little bulky and the stickers and rubber rings soon come off but those are just minor points. The one major negative comment I have to make about the survivor is that just over a month ago, almost on its one year anniversary, the end cap of the removable case broke off, not sure exactly what caused this as it was in my pocket at the time. The end cap glued back on and seems as strong as before but I no longer trust it and have bought a new memory stick (not a survivor) to carry around with me.

THE BEST
JUST AFTER I GOT IT I ATTACHED IT TO MY PACK WITH CLIMBING ROPE. YANKED THE BAG AND THE MEMORY STICK. YIKES! REALLY HARD PULL WOULD HAVE DESTROYED ALL OTHER MEMORY. SURVIVOR SURVIVED. NO PROBLEMS. RAIN SUN SNOW. OPENS AND CLOSES EASILY. CAN USE THE ENCLOSED CHAIN TO LOOP THE TWO PIECES OF THE DEVICE FOR SAFEKEEPING.
WICKED FAST DATA TRANSFER TOO. GREAT VALUE.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

My best USB ever
I bought this 32gb stick in July (but not from Amazon, so can't comment on their service for this particular item).
It is by far the best USB stick I have -- I have 10 in total, bought over the last few years, ranging from 128mb to 8gb. I use it every day to back up selected folders from my PC and every week or so to back up my entire data folder which is 10gb. This takes about 45 minutes to back up -- fairly slow but not a problem as I just set the backup running and go and do something else.
I can't comment on its ruggedness as it hasn't been tested, but it sits in my pocket all day beside my keys and has suffered no damage -- even the case isn't scuffed yet. Now I have one, I can well believe all the hype that it is waterproof, shockproof, etc.
I found the rubber rings on mine were loose when I bought it but this was cured by rolling the rings back and supergluing them to the case.
I would highly recommend this 32gb drive to anyone and I shall shortly be buying another for my wife.
I was tempted to only score it 4/5 because of the slowness, but decided to give it the full 5/5 because it is ideal for me and works perfectly for what I want.
