Utterly useless

(1 out of 5) by PC-B on Oct 2, 2007 (Surrey, UK)
Thank goodness it's been discontinued so that nobody else will have to suffer this utterly useless product.
It's sold as an alarm clock, yet:
The clock frequently freezes or sets itself to a random time, so the alarm doesn't go off.
The display is bright enough even on the dimmest setting to read a book by.
The alarm volume cannot be changed - on first going off it ramps up over a 10s period to FULL VOLUME! After a snooze, it comes straight on at FULL VOLUME.
Philips are well aware of these problems but have no intention of doing anything about them.
Avoid at all costs.

Good thing in not so small package!

(5 out of 5) by J. Brewer on Jul 3, 2009 (Newcastle upon Tyne United Kingdom)
When I first saw this unit advertised I thought it wouldn't be any good as it just seemed to be a very pricey alarm clock...but a bit more research lead me to think it was worth a try, and it was!
Ordered this on Tuesday and it was delivered Thursday! It actually seems bigger in real life than it appears in pictures, the size of the parcel threw me when it arrived...I really expected something a lot smaller. Fairly straightforward to set up, and sound is very good for a small unit (if you need to shake the walls your main unit should be able to do that, and then you wouldn't need the separate stations anyway).
Does just what I wanted, plays music via the main unit's hard drive any room its plugged in. Why spend 3 or 4 times the price on something that does virtually the same things....I think I'll be buying another one.

Excellent device

(5 out of 5) by Albert of Dock on Jun 5, 2008 (Liverpool)
Lets just make thing clear that this is not primarily a radio alarm but a media streamer to connect to any Philps Streamium music center. Multi function devices very rarely perform all functions well. Connected to center in 5 minutes, updated firmware over the net wirelessly in another 2 mins. Streaming music perfectly and sound quality very good for the size of the device. Highly recommended as a media streamer if you have a Philips Streamium music center. Also it looks pretty neat.
Get them while you can as I think it is now discontinued.
