This is the One-Der !

(5 out of 5) by Mr. W. Cameron on May 18, 2008
I`ve held back from reviewing this purchase because I wanted to film the Dolphin Show at Portugals Zoomarine in Guia.Which I did in May(Mai) of this year. The show is fast moving throughout & would be the acid test for ANY machine, let alone one of modest price and non mainstream brand. The results were excellent with no trails or smearing + you can watch back in either HD or Standard format! Take two batteries as it does eat the juice but don`t hesitate: Get this one pronto! I`d score it 10 if that were possible!- Bill Cameron

Why there is good and bad reviews for this camera...

(5 out of 5) by I own this camera on Mar 26, 2008 (U.K)

1. The video quality of this camera is amazing. wonderful clear and saturated
but you need to hold it steady and if its zoomed panning shots your after then no way...wrong camera.

2. The Video quality for the price you pay for the camera is unbelievable!
but the file format is .mov so you need to convert it to avi or other formats that video editors handle the best.(HD conversions take a while on standard computers)

3. The HD is again amazing but you will need a powerful graphics card, at least 1 Gig of ram and a chip above pentium 4 to edit HD without pulling your hair out.

4. The functions of the camera are basic but you get everything you need for your money with this camera (spec can be found on the Aiptek site)
But there is a small zoom and it's noisy so again if your after panning then get a higher budget camera.

5. Pictures are superb, brilliant clear images.
but the flash will drain the battery so if you want a camera for indoor use for long sessions, wrong camera.(has lcd lights for video and comes with two batt)

6. Remote and nice padded cover (no lens cap)

7. You cant use wide angle lenses but surely if you use them then you are really into making vids so you will go for a higher budget camera?

8. It's a dream to function, well set out buttens and menus are simple but perfect for quickly changing small settings such as HD down to SD wich still produces brilliant video.

9. Startup time is very quick wich is what you are looking for in a `capture the moment in wonderful HD camera`

thats the key hear if you want to make films with this camera with all the panning, wide angle and other pro techniques used in film shooting then wrong camera.

If you want a cheap camera that will capture your moments in a flash and in amazing video quality/ for the money you pay aswell! then this camera is the best.

For use in close up, in HD, prepared to be amazed.

So for what this camera is..... it's superb

one of best deals I ever made

(5 out of 5) by John Filler on Sep 20, 2007
Hi everybody,
I also got one and I love it.
Everybody who says its wasted money does not understood the product.
It's HD - High Definition. Before I had the Sanyo Xacti and I spend f***** much money for it to record in HD. The encoder was Mpeg4 and the HD image had many pixels but many bad pixels. Totally too much compressed.
A friend of mine told me about aiptek and he showed his videos. I could not believe that I spend 500£ more and had worse result. Luckily I could return it and got back my money.
Now I have the Z300HD. It makes great videos for a great price.
Surly it can't compare with the big Sony or canon but £170 for HD Hallo...
Does anybody know a better solution o watch HD? I don't think so ;-))

V HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!

(5 out of 5) by Louise S on Dec 6, 2007 (UK)
I love this camcorder! I was thinking of buying one of these however reading some of the reviews put me off - don't let them! - i got one for my birthday and have hardly put it down.

The recording quality is great - within minutes i can playback on my tv or pc using the supplied cables.

It has a camera built in with 5 megapixels which produces great quality pictures. The great thing is you don't feel like your carrying around a big bag - its so compact i take it everywhere.

Even though I received it as a gift I knew how much it cost and I think its great value for money!

Great Value

(5 out of 5) by John Vincent on Dec 3, 2007 (UK)
I was not sure about the brand "Aiptek" as I had never heard of them before. But after a bit of research they seem to be really established and have received great press in Germany and the US.

To get high definition for under £200 its amazing. The 5cm macro mode is super for close subjects, it plays back on my HD TV with the RGB leads in great quality. I always take this camcorder with me as its compact, simple and fits in my pocket. Another great thing is the 5 megapixel sensor allows for fantastic digital still images.

I will certainly look out for Aiptek products in the future!!
