HP-DVD1040E EXTERNAL DVD REWRITER
i brought this about one year ago, deciding at the time to do a review after a long time of usage.
Anyway, i wont bore anyone with loads of techi stuff but what i will say is that it does everthing that i could hope for. From dual layer films to music and photo backups on CDR'S, this does it all with no problems.
At this price it is a steal. Buy one now, you wont regret it!

Top Notch
What can I say? It burns discs and makes nice lightscribe labels. No problems at all with it, and it even recognises some discs that won't work in my laptop's DVD drive. All-round, it's great. No regrets buying it.

HP-DVD104E External DVD writer
If you are looking for a external dvd rewriter, you could not go far wrong with this one, it is fast, quite, and so far 100% reliable piece of equipment. I rate this very high, a great buy!! recommended!!

fine at first but...
Unit worked OK at first, though only at 4x speed. Higher speeds generated error.
Less than 3 months down the line (and only moderate use), has stopped working altogether. Switched to high quality media, same problem. Sending back to supplier, hopefully for replacement. Hope 2nd unit will be more reliable.
Of course HP "customer forum" gives no help or advice from staff, only peer-support. What's the point? Email support just replied (in very bad English) "sounds faulty".
Another quibble, USB cable supplied is very short! Very impractical.

DVD Rewriter
This DVD rewriter does everything it claims. My family have experimented with the Light Scribe programme and have made interesting DVD 'faces'.
