At Last ... An LCD that handles SD like a CRT

(4 out of 5) by Lee Stanton on May 7, 2007 (Northampton)
If you're looking for an HD LCD TV but will mainly be watching standard definition broadcasts, this is definitely the leader of the pack. At a viewing distance of 7 feet watching an SD Sky digital broadcast, the picture quality (with the right settings) is easily as good, if not better, than the Hitachi 32 inch CRT I previously had. The 100hz technology and motion picture pro work wonders. Don't be drawn to larger cheaper sets. Quality, not quantity is definitely the order of the day.

Excellent Buy

(4 out of 5) by Mark I. Cater on Jan 2, 2008
I purchased this TV to replace my Sony CRT and was slightly dubious at first as I have heard a lot of varying comments about LCD picture quality.
I have wall mounted the TV and I must say I am not dissapointed with the picture quality especially from the XBOX360 through the composite connections. You must remember to change the output of the XBOX via it's display menu but it is crystal clear in picture.
The only reason I have not rated this 5 stars is that I feel the sound from the TV is a bit tinny and lacks the bass of my old TV.
One other slight comment is potentially not enough space behind TV when wall mounted flush as the scart cables and other cables purtrude slightly.
Overall though I would recommend this to anyone.

Good, but no cigar

(3 out of 5) by unkle on Aug 16, 2007 (Yorkshire)
When its good, its very, very good, but picture quality can be surprisingly poor.

Full marks for ease of setup. Don't agree with the layout of the remote being good, when flicking though the TV guide, the information button is several rows away from the direction buttons, forcing a look at the remote every time.

I'm amazed at how good the Freeview pictures are, but there can be letdowns. Motion is still nowhere near as good as a decent CRT. If the quality of the source image (notably adverts) is poor, the picture can look appallingly out of focus, but then I guess you get to see who the cheapskate companies are and avoid their products. There are also artefacting problems with certain colour combinations.

Maybe the more compact 26" would not highlight these issues so much, but when the 32" is only £50 more its hard not to supersize.

DVDs also vary depending on the original quality, recent ones are superb, especially CGI, older ones can leave the picture lacking in focus.

Contrast is not great.

The sound is good for a TV.

Overall, I wish my CRT hadn't packed up forcing me to buy a new telly. I feel like I've been scammed, the industry wants us to move to LCD but its still an inferior quality to CRT, they just want to con us into buying a new TV every few years.

Contrast Ratio

(4 out of 5) by Mr. F. Mirza on Jun 1, 2007 (Eastbourne, England)
I haven't bough this LCD TV yet but got my eyes on it. The contrast ratio of this TV is 8500 not 700, as mentioned above and its the highest I have seen for a 32 inch LCD.
