Great USB drive but shame about the bundled software

However, The bundled smart (and yes it installs) menu and software is poor the programs are lame (If I want to run Skype of my memory stick I'll install it), McFee anti-virus that can't connect via my broadband??
I removed the programs even formatted the drive. However, this doesn't remove the offending files as there is a partitioned portion of the drive that will re-install the offending autostart menu. Therefore knocked down to a 2 star as all I wanted was a memory card.
Will need to uses Windows Management and see if I can delete the offending parition.
Pity as the USB drive is good and relatively fast.
Feels a lot more flimsy than other USB as only thin plastic construction.

Does what it's suppose to do

It's a little slower (transfer speed wise) than other memory pens I have used but they were a lot smaller capacity wise so what do you expect. that's the only bad point I can think of (oh and the u3 software takes a little time to load on slower computers)..
Great device... 4gb memory (or so)...lots of apps available including FTP software, internet browsers, etc... which is great for when you go to a computer without the software you need/are used to using.
it's little retractable connector is great as there is no lid to lose and it protects the end from getting broken off. Plus the whole device is suprisingly small.
great for storing music as it said earlier and you could store a brave few mp3s on it but you wouldn't need half of them unless you were going on a long, long trip. Also the price is fantastic even so when I bought it at £20 a few months back. But now it's an even better price so there's no excuse for you not to buy it.

Survives 40˚ washes as well!

Also, I accidentally left it in a pocket when I washed my clothes, and it survived 3 cycles of 40 degree washes: can't really ask for more than that.

Will not readyboost vista
(2 out of 5) by J. Bass on Mar 1, 2008 (UK)I purchased the 4GB version specifically to use for the Vista ready boost system. It is not fast enough according to test Vista does before using it. This is what Vista reports;
"The device (SanDisk U3 Cruzer Micro) will not be used for a ReadyBoost cache because it has insufficient read performance: 1335 KB/sec."
I feel this is being badly advertised and misleading as it is advertised as Vista compatible and readyboost enhanced.
Given two stars as it is ok for storing information. But do not buy this if you want the ready boost function.
Of course I may have a faulty one but this would not be good either!

I doubt you can do better.
(5 out of 5) by D. Atkinson on Jan 31, 2008 (Harrogate, UK)This is the first U3 memory stick I have bought. The technology is very useful and this stick is truly excellent. There is a lot of free software available for the U3 format.
This stick has massive storage and I find it quick to access. I particularly like the retractable usb connector as it means I have no more lids to lose and it also keeps it incredibly compact.
This is a must-buy!
