Great capacity but fragile

(4 out of 5) by Andrew INGRAM on Nov 12, 2007 (London)
there really is, astonishingly, about 4GB of space on this little fellah. Two disadvantages:
a) it comes with built-in software which, despite reading the advice here, I still find is unhelpful and unavoidable..
b) this thing has no cap, just a hole into which the business end mostly retracts. This has made it unsuitable for my intended use - having it in my jeans pocket, or in the "everything else" pocket in my rucksack. So it's in the drawer at home: no away fixtures.
It's also very flimsy in feel; the case feels like it could easily be split open just with the fingers.

Very good price

(5 out of 5) by Matt Brock on Oct 22, 2007 (Oxford)
This is such a god price for a flash memory stick.
4gb is a lot for most usb sticks and for around 15 pound you can not go wrong. Simple to use as its plug and play.

Thumbs up.

Give the U3 a chance!

(5 out of 5) by B. Murkin on Oct 15, 2007 (Northampton , UK)
The memory stick itself is great. It is small, and the slide feature works very smothly, but it is plasticky, and light.

The U3 software athough can be uninstalled, (see options menu on the U3), it can also just be disabled also, from autorunning. This way, you can still use firefox, or the extremely useful CruzerSync software only when you click on the drive. I won't complain about the size of the U3 sector on the stick, as it is only about 1% on a 4GB drive.

Finally, people comment about the capacity of the drive being less that the 4 GB stated. This is because drive manufacters count 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte, where as the computer manufacter count it as 1024KB in a MB. If you scale this up, and the addition of the file system, that is where the mysterious 100 MB goes. I hope this helps.

Cruzing!

(5 out of 5) by Villan57 on Sep 25, 2007 (UK)
Never bought one of these flash drives before , so if like me you are a novice and just want a 4gb flash I can't fault it. I've got nothing to compare it with but its quick enough for me and you just drag and drop Photos etc into it!
Now the bad bit if you use the free delivery it took mine a week to arrive after they said it was dispatched which to me is far too slow.

Doesnt work with readyboost

(1 out of 5) by M. A. Smith on Nov 3, 2007 (Sunderland UK)
I bought this to use as a readyboost drive and it consistently fails the Vista suitability test.
My smaller Verbatim drive works OK and so I can only assume it's this drive that doesn't work - infuriating since it is 'optimised for readyboost'.
Extra software is good but of no use to me.
