Essential piece of kit for laptops.

Jun 20, 2007 - By AAK (Hertfordshire, UK)

When I originally purchased my laptop, I was blown away by all of it's features as it is quite powerful. The specs were impressive and it did everything I required it to do.

I then installed one of the new games at the time and was very disappointed with the graphics capability, despite the specs I had to turn down all the details due to a poor frame rate. Also the sound was poor through the integrated sound card. Something was missing.

I originally bought the Audigy 2 nx usb sound card, which greatly improved the sound quality, but framerates plummeted further, (to which i blame the USB configuration.) This card is only good for enhancing a users media experience. Then i Purchased the Audigy 2 zs and everything changed.

The sound capability far surpased the nx. It doesn't need an external power supply or free usb slot, saving sockets. As it connects directly into the notebook card slot, it is able to hardware accelerate games. This means that it takes the work away from the main processor and processes game sound itself. The main processor is then left work with the graphics and the game funcitons. The result, hugely increased frame rates!! I was able to turn up graphical detail and crank up resolution!! I was so happy about this. Even with the increase in graphical quality, the sound quality is far superiour. The card supports EAX 4.0 HD so your games will be totally immersive. If you are not a gamer, Music and movies are greatly enhanced, and if you purchase some computer 5.1 or 7.1 speakers, you will greatly enjoy your experience. The bundled software allows you to adjust the response of your music, leading to MORE BASS, MORE TREBLE; MORE ENJOYMENT. Even through headphones this card excels.

It is absolutely a must have for all notebook users, don't settle for poor quality sound through laptop speakers or through speakers plugged into the headphone jack. This card and it's bundled software do so much. It may cost near to £100 but you definitely get what you pay for.
