Great little camera

(4 out of 5) by Terry King on May 23, 2008 (UK)
Have been using this little gem for 2 months now and am very happy with the results it produces. It has an easy to use menu and not too many buttons and dials to get used to. I bought this as carry round camera as it is small enough to fit into a pocket and will always be at hand. It has an "intelligent ISO" function where you can set the max ISO at 400, 800, 1200 and the camera won't accede this I would recommend setting it at iso400, no manual mode but loads of scene modes. It has no optical view finder but that seems to be the trend in the small compact market today with the result sometimes it can be difficult to see the screen in bright sunlight.
You should be able to pick this up for around £100 give or take a few pounds.

Nice Compact Camera

(5 out of 5) by Mr. Ross Maynard on Apr 15, 2008 (Glasgow, Scotland)
As other reviewers have said, this is a very compact camera with great features, and excellent build quality. It is small and very easy to use. My only complaint is that it lacks a viewfinder. You have to use the LCD screen at the back. This is very difficult to see in even ordinary daylight. A design fault in my view, in an otherwise excellent camera.

too fragile

(1 out of 5) by Mark J. Layland on Feb 19, 2008 (ledbury, england)
this was bought for xmas 2007 and only lasted 4 days. It was then discovered to have a broken screen and when turned on the lens came out and would not return. It had not been abused and had barely taken any pictures. It was bought on the sales assistant's word when asked to recommend as a strong / rugged camera. Curry's then refused to do anything about it as we had not bought their extra cover and they claimed it was impact damage - it was not. Panasonic did not want to know and the best that i could manage was an independant workshop who would write a report for £60. I have Sony cameras that have traveled the world with the associated knocks and bumps, that still work as good as ever. The Panasonic FX12 never got to be repaired or replaced and never got to be used - what a waste of money.

Panasonic DMC-FX12EB-S Digital Camera

(5 out of 5) by K. Woodward on Nov 18, 2007
Upon first opening the box and looking at the camera, I began to feel pleased. There were little things about the 'build quality' that I liked. Little things, like the 'on' 'off' switch, which slid from side to side. The way that the memory card and battery door opened, and also of how the USB cable connected. All these little things were far superior to the way it was on the Sony Cybershot I'd just returned because it had malfunctioned within a month.

Confidence was beginning to be restored, and I began to click away! The camera is easy to use, but what about the quality of the pictures? I have taken many pictures of beautiful scenery on dull days, glowing night skies, items to sell on Ebay, and of course, my favourite people. I have not been disappointed and am really pleased with the results.

Before the disappointing Sony Cybershot which I returned, I had been using a Casio for 3 years, which gave good results, but this Panasonic Lumix Digital camera is a joy to use, with results that are always better than you would expect. Also the long life battery does not take long to recharge, which means that it is not essential to have a spare. The camera comes complete whith battery charger and all connection leads, etc.

I'm glad to say that we are very happy together!
