Atec AV470 is fantastic value for the money

(5 out of 5) by M. Fry on Jan 13, 2008 (UK)
I pruchased mine about six months ago and have not had a single problem with it. It is Full HD READY AT 1929 x 1080p. When it is on the Picture is so vivid and clear. Being Black is will suite most rooms. I have my PC hooked up to it and it's fantastic looking at the internet, it covers the complete screen. And with PIP, PBP, POP, Double Screen, you can see whats going on elsewhere at the sametime. It has 2 tuners analog and digital and onscreen menu. I have mine sitting on a long sideboard with it's built in stand, the reason why I have chosen this method is that I think it may overheat when fitted on the wall. (i could be totally wrong about that but I would say the same of any tv fitted against a wall). Overall I would purchase this TV again in a seccond.

Good till it goes wrong

I was generally very pleased with my ATEC even though I had not used it at its full hi def capability. After 9 months use the screen refused to function, and all the menu items refused as well so I was sure it was a problem with either the screen or graphics card.

It took a week for the repair agent to visit due to my remote location in the depths of Essex (its hardly the Scilly Isles!) Then speaking with the repair agents KEY Electronics to chase the repair (its now been four weeks) we are given conflicting information regarding the status of the repair. I can not explain the conflicting responses we are getting from KEY Electronics. It is either gross incompetance, neglect or they simply lie to cover things they have not done...........such as order parts for a screen that has been out of action for four weeks of its nine month life!

Parts were ordered, parts not ordered, wrong parts came in and then finally parts were ordered on a date that was one week before it went wrong. When my wife asked to speak to a supervisor the phone was left on the desk whilst the telephonist carried on her typing with clearly no intention of getting a superior involved.

So if you fancy having a screen where one month in nine its at the repairers, and you have to make a dozen phone calls to find out where it is by all means buy one of these.
