I have just recieved these headphones today, so bear in mind that i have still to do a bit of breaking in, but boy these cans are the nuts.
I have a sony nwz-a818 and the sound quality is mindblowing, you can hear everything. Even on records that i have listened for years i am hearing new things.
The treble needs a bit of toeing in on the eq, as it can be a bit harsh at volume, but the mid and bass ranges are great (could be down to needing time to breaking the speakers in)
Appearance wise, they are a bit of bold statement and are not the most discrete of cans but when it sounds this good, who cares :)
If you own a a818 and areonly using the supplied earplugs, you are not fully appriciating what your unit can do, get some!
Good, even if the gimmicks don't quite work, as per usual!
These are very comfortable and very stylish headphones. They put me in mind of my of the Denon AH D1000/1001 and the Bose Triport, powever the Sony fall down slighly on sound quality, as per every pair of Sony headphones i own.
These sound a bit to safe for my liking. The overall sound leans towards being warm instead of detailed. They canpump it out, but there's nothing I can hear in the sound, to set it apart from the com[petition. There's are some more exciting choice out there, headphones that'll take breath away. These juat don't excite me at all.
the 'Open/Close' option on the headphones is a bit of a gimmick. it's suppose to allow ambient noise to get in (open position). I had this before on the Sony XD200 headphones with the 'Movies/Musaic' button that kind of tightens up the bass.... i think. Anyway, its another Sony gimmick that doesn't quite work, and does imporve the sound quality, which is what we all wnat at the end of the day.
These are stylish and comfotable, but they don't excactly light my fire in the sound quality department.
