Simply beautiful. Beautifully simple

I know the title is a slogan for Nokia 6300 but i can't find any other words to describe this item. It's really cute and very adequate. amazing battery hours, great sound quality and a very good software in sonicstage as well. Used to have samsung yp-k5 but so far, this has beat the yp-k5 hands down, the only difference being the yp-k5 has ext speakers. The video feature is also very good as well, exceptional in fact. With the sonic image converter, you can convert a video file in ANY format to the format recognized by the player. The video quality is amazing with the bright screen. A great buy overall.
I would recommend this to anyone with class and wants the hottest mp3 player in town otherwise, go get a nano.

Who wants an Ipod?????

(5 out of 5) by Dan Diamond on Aug 3, 2007 (Northamptonshire, GB)
My NWA808 arrived three days ago, promptly and in perfect condition, as always with Amazon. Well, where do I start and what can I say?. After owning an NW-A1000 for the last two years I decided it was time to invest in a newer mp3 player. After pondering over whether to go for Sony, Apple or Archos I decided to stick with Sony and boy am I glad I did. This is a fantastic piece of kit on ALL fronts. It looks and sounds fantastic. The earphones are superb as is the build quality of the player.(much better than the Ipod Video). The size is just perfect. I've just spent the last two days loading it up with cd's and photos without one single glitch. I can honestly say that I have NEVER had any issue with Sony's software. I have also downloaded several tracks from the Sony website again without any problems. I honestly cannot think of anything bad to say about this product. Buy one now today. You won't regret it.

Bin your nano!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. N. Dickens on Jul 24, 2007
After owning an NWA1000 and feeling very envious of all my mates nano's with their colour screens and slim bodies, I took the decision to upgrade to the NWA800.

It was the best decision ever!

I'd had problems with the early versions of sonic stage - though nothing major, just freezing or being really really SLOW.

The latest version is just as good as itunes, plus you don't need to use the exact supplied data cable for your player.

The firmware and format is extremely intuitive, theres no loading time and the ability to see 16 albums on screen to cycle through to find the music you want is a real pleasure - no more searching or thumbing through hundreds of artsists starting with "the".

For anyone who owns a mobile phone or a PSP, the menu system is easy to use, and the scroll key makes perfect sense - I've never got to grips with the ipod jog wheel - its just a pain.

Atrac is a cracking format - it compresses smaller yet the sound quality is superb! I connect my player to my car stereo and my home system, the next plan is the blue tooth emitter and receiver - beat that ipod!

I don't work for sony, honestly, but if you want an MP4 player for a big chuck of your music (I have 75 albums and half the memory still left) plus some photos and videos, with amazing sound quality, there is only one choice.

Amazing

(5 out of 5) by StreetSpirit on Jun 29, 2007
I have a 20 gig Sony and still use it, but when I heard the sound quality of this player I had to buy it, it is truly amazing. Like all other Sony players it is well made and well designed. I cannot fault anything about it. Battery life is really good, the lack of a mains charger is a bit of a let down, but that's a minor quibble.

Sonic stage may not look the best and be a little clunky but it has never caused me any trouble. It worked out of the box, and I always upgrade to the newest versions when available - without issue. It's probably a bit slow to convert to ATRAC but it's worth the wait.

I'm constantly smiling as I'm walking around because the sound is truly brilliant.

So all in all a great package. It's made me smile more :)

Sony NW-A808

(4 out of 5) by John Doe on Jun 20, 2007 (London, UK)
i ordered this after careful review and was a bit worried when one person only gave this one star. i was aware that the sonic stage was an extremely bad piece of software and this is about accurate. it's not too bad but the iTunes software is far better. iTunes is much more friendly and is better with the majority in its features. i am fairly experienced with programs and computers but wasn't expecting much due to complaints. however sonic stage does the job and seems fine. i'd put up with it and haven't come across any problems yet. i got no idea about it crashing computers. that doesn't sound particular accurate to me so i think that was an EXTREME rare case or it wasn't installed properly. can be a bit slow during tranfers but if you're patient, this isn't a problem.

however, in term of performance of the actual product, i must say this is one of the best if not the best mp3 players of its type. has a long battery life and i've heard from other users that sony knows how to make a battery so its quite durable (longer than the average iPod that has had many comlaints) although i cannot say from experience as i haven't had this for that long. its EARphones are great. i like the idea that they fit into my ears as it seems louder and you get a better effect fromthe bass, which i rather like. equalizer is also good, i know how to set a good bass setting so it gives good bass without distorting the music.

it also has many other settings which many won't be to bothered about using, but they include tampering with music quality to improve it incase of distortion.

it also has the ability of carrying videos and pictures. i'm not too bothered about using it for that but it can be quite handy. given its small size i suppose it can be used for data tranfer.

beware of its size, i bought it not paying attention to the dimensions. i would prefer something a little bigger and chunkier but i wouldn't regret buying this.

overall i would give the product alone 5 stars as it much better than the iPod. i think the apple products seem to be more popular as people see it in term of a fashion accesory in some cases and are just following the majority. its equalizer and earphones are great and i like the look of it. however i've given it four stars taking into account the downfall of sonic stage. hopefully they improve it as many people have been complaining about it.
