I am definitely support this camera!!

First of all Amazon.co.uk team had provided a superb service. About this camera, overall performance is excellent. For easy job, just set the AUTO mode n click. Compared to sony cybershot (I had used it before), its pictures' taken frequency is bigger, quite complicated settings and unable to save focus pointed picture. However, it depends on the photographer him/herself to decide the level of features and technology, referring to money return. Canon A570IS suits my usage as an amateur. For me, it is absolutely worth to have this camera.

Well worth the price

(5 out of 5) by Alex DeLarge on Apr 11, 2009 (Dublin, Ireland)
I've been using this camera for about four months now, and it's been worth the money paid (although I'd advise shopping around - mine cost less than the price listed here and came bundled with a printer).

- Excellent picture quality

- Takes real batteries (NiMH AA are the ones I use, rechargeables that have plenty of life between rejuicing)

-Good build quality

- You can more or less figure out how the thing works without using the manual

However, be sure and get a memory card as the one it's bundled with is really only for demonstration and holds about four pictures. You can get genuine Sony 1 gig HD cards that are lockable for less than four quid from a major retailer (the one that rhymes with al fresco) - these 1 gig cards will hold more than enough pictures/video unless you're a press photographer or a budding film director.

All in all - a very good product for the price.

Digital camera

(4 out of 5) by R. Mccartney on Apr 10, 2009 (Harlow, UK)
An excellent small digital camera. It has the advantage of a view finder as well as the screen for viewing the image which all digital cameras have. In bright sunlight in the past I have found the screen difficult to use. With the Canon Power Shot I can put the camera to my eye and see clearly what it is I want to photograph. This facility is the reason I chose the camera. As it turns out the camera itself is very good indeed, very easy to use.

good but not perfect - excellent picture quality

(4 out of 5) by Comical Engineer on Feb 9, 2009 (UK)
This camera is capable of producing very good pictures in a variety of circumstances. The 4x optical zoom works well and is about average for this type of camera. There are several easily accessed shooting modes available on the selector dial and more available via the menu including a special "fireworks" mode!

The good points:
* Quite compact but chunky enough to get a good grip on
* Takes AA batteries (see later) so can get new ones almost anywhere
* About 150-200 photos out of a set of batteries
* Flash is reasonably powerful
* Reasonable video mode
* Excellent picture quality
* Takes cheap SD memory cards
* Has a normal viewfinder as well as the screen
* Easy just to leave it in auto where it will cope with most normal pictures

The bad points:
* Doesn't like NiCd rechargeable batteries - must use NiMH which is a nuisance
* Quite slow to recharge flash between shots
* Only 8MB memory card supplied hence you will need to buy an SD card (I recommend at least 1GB)
* The detailed user manual is only supplied on CD

Summary:
* I paid less than £60 for mine but it's a great buy at the £61 advertised
* Picture quality is excellent
* It's versatile and all the camera that many will need
* An excellent small camera

not the best, but still very good

(4 out of 5) by Sam on Jul 30, 2008 (York, UK)
Got this camera for a friend of mine, first cause it is a Canon, and second cause the price was very good, unbeatable.
In comparison to other Canon cameras (e.g. Digital Ixus range, 55), this camera does not really stand in the crowd. However, there are very good points about it.
First of all, the picture quality is fantastic, really impressive. Very sharp contrast, and the color, saturation, is really good.
I was not very impressed with the build itself, it kind of feel like it is all made of plastic when you first hold it, and this means that you would feel that it could break easily. That was not really the point, cause after getting used to it, you would recognize that it is actually very sturdy and solid.
What I did not like is that it did not have rechargeable batteries, which is always the best thing to have in my opinion.
The provided memory card is not big enough, so you certainly need to get one with larger capacity, SD card.
The LCD display is really really good, and at 2.5 inches, that is more than you would want from a digital camera. Having 7.1 mega pixel is a huge advantage for this camera, and would certainly mean better quality images, and at this price, this is an absolute must buy. In a word, great camera, could have been better, but the most important thing after all in digital cameras is how good the photo quality is, and the quality this camera produces is simply awesome.
