Cheap and cheerful?

(2 out of 5) by Phat Fay on Mar 9, 2009 (London, UK)
This Casio Waveceptor Radio-controlled watch just about does what it says on the tin. It tells the time and keeps itself accurate by routinely synchronising with the UK atomic radio time signal from Rugby. However, it looks and feels cheap - hardly surprising given the knock-down price. Despite feeling oddly light, it is rather bulky and distracting to wear.

The strap and the dial-surround feel particularly plastic. Most disappointing of all is the tiny LCD display. It is hard to read in anything other than direct light. The absence of a sweep second hand is troubling - and if you do select the seconds display in the LCD window, you cannot display the day! Additionally, the date can only be displayed in an "American" format - listing the month before the day.

All in all, it works as a routine, everyday watch, obviously keeps perfect time - but is neither stylish nor pretty. If you regularly damage or lose more expensive timepieces, then this could be the watch for you!

A very good watch for not very much money

(5 out of 5) by Daniel Lesser on Apr 22, 2009 (London, UK)
This is the second WaveCeptor I have owned, the first being a fully digital watch. I like radio controlled watches in general, but Casio just seem to do a better job of it than most do.

The watch itself is very well made for the most part, with the exception of the outside ring (the part that can be turned) which is a bit easy to accidentally turn. It's been a while since I've owned an analogue watch, so the digital read-out is a very welcome feature, if not necessary, because this watch doesn't have a Seconds hand.

In short, this is a very good watch. It combines the reliability of an anlogue watch with the functionality of a digital watch, and the precision of the radio-control system. For what you get, this is also very good value for money: it's well priced compared to similar watches, without feeling at all cheap. This is a very good purchase.

Excellent watch with many features and lovely look. Its quite semi-formal type watch and highly appreciated by my friends on having a look on it.

Would recommend to get such a good useful item in such a lovely price.

Pleased with it. Seems easy to change cites: I travel a fair amount. Face is a little small and the strap a bit chunky. Good value for money.
