Superb build quality

(5 out of 5) by D. L on Apr 25, 2008 (UK)
An awesome piece of kit. I choose this mainly for aesthetic reasons, I had no real interesting a plethora of hot-keys. Although, the added hotkeys are useful. With volume control, search engines, and image controls available to the user.

The build quality of the keyboard is superb. The buttons are nice and tactile soft whilst not bouncy retaining a solid feel. The quality of the keyboard itself is very sturdy as well. The mouse is on par, with the laser technology making it adapt on most surfaces.

Simple plug in and play, or install Logitech software if you wish to use all the integrated buttons.

Dreadful pile of pap

(1 out of 5) by Bob Singleton on Aug 15, 2008 (West Molesey, Surrey)
I bought this item from Amazon in March 2008

I have this wireless keyboard and mouse set up with my Sony Vaio laptop. Most of the time I work from home, but when I do go "on the road", the keyboard and mouse are left behind. Upon my return I need to go through the whole installation and set up routine to get these items to work again. My old Belkin wireless system was different. Plug in the receiver and it "found" the mouse and keyboard without having to re-install and re-connect every time.

I should have known better as every Logitech item I have ever bought has caused more problems than they have solved. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Somewhat disappointed

(2 out of 5) by M. Hart on Oct 7, 2009 (Scotland)
I bought the keyboard and mouse to replace an older one. On opening the box and unpacking it I was excited by its design and apparent improvements. Sadly I have returned to my old one because the keyboard repeatedly failed to keep up with my typing and would miss letters and sometimes whole words.
I followed all the advice on the website, reinstalled the software and reconnected the device but it simply fails to pick up a signal if anything else is happening on my PC. Even my mobile phone checking in from 10 yards away stops the keyboard working.
Not great ...

Great usability, poor material choice

(3 out of 5) by Craig Stott on Jul 30, 2009 (Manchester, UK)
Good value, high quality wireless keyboard and mouse combo with at least 10m range before signal begins to break up. Series of controllable hotkeys and media controls on a well laid out keyboard with height adjustable tabs on the underside. Mouse is quite small and probably rather uncomfortable for people with larger hands.

Biggest problem however is the plastic chosen for the keyboard, it has a peculiar texture which dirt and moisture stick too, making it impossible top clean, permanently dirty and therefore horribly annoying. I'm a huge fan of Logitech, but how they made such a mistake on this material choice is beyond me. A real shame.

Great product, but not without its flaws.

Ive been using this keyboard and mouse for a couple of months now on a PC that's used for both work and leisure, so it's been used quite heavily already. For the most part I am very pleased. Very nice look and feel to the keyboard and good build quality throughout.

There have been some complaints on other websites about the thin dimensions of the mouse. While this is indeed unusual at first, you do soon get used to it. The back and forward buttons for browsing web pages are also nicely positioned and surprisingly, I'm actually using them. Scrolling a page left and right by leaning the mouse wheel is another matter though. I find this more than a little awkward and can't see myself using this any time soon.

On the subject of the mouse is the middle mouse button. It is very tuff to use, requiring far too much effort to press. Usually resulting in accidental scroll up/down movements. This is a real pain for me as although I'm not much of a gamer, when I do indulge I like to use the middle button to jump. This is now simply not practical.

Back to the keyboard and the first thing you notice is the unusual layout of the home, insert, end, delete and page up/page down keys. Not an issue for me, but I can see some users not liking these new locations. The function keys have also been reduced in size and the F8 and F9 keys are now separated by some short cut keys. If youre a heavy 'F' key user you may want to look elsewhere or at least be prepared for a learning curve.

This is of course a multimedia keyboard. Meaning it has some dedicated buttons for controlling some media related software. Play, pause, next, back, volume up/down etc. Bizarrely, although there is a button for starting your email client, there is no web browser button!? Considering this must be the most used shortcut used on any modern PC, it boggles the mind as to how this got over looked. Fortunately, the included software allows you to customise what these buttons actually do and I'm able to use another button for this purpose.

Sadly though, the software isn't as customisable as I would like. For example, on the very top right of the keyboard is a button marked with a picture of a moon. You have the option for this to put your computer in standby, sleep or to switch off. But I would have liked the option of using it to put the monitor in standby. Perhaps a future software upgrade will allow a little more flexibility.

Finally, what should have been a nice luxury feature...isn't. Because it simply doesn't work properly. I'm talking about the battery indicator. The idea is when your batteries are getting low, a little red light glows on the mouse. The trouble is this has been warning me of low batteries, both on the mouse and in windows, ever since I used the kit out of the box. I have even changed the batteries for some brand new Duracell's, and it still warns me. And there's no way to turn this off! arrggg.
