Fuji FinePix F40fd Digital Camera - Silver (8.0MP, 3x Optical Zoom ) 2.5" LCD

Super little compact, easy to use and potentially incredible results at ISO between 100 - 400.

High ISO can cause serious multi coloured stripping and or green tint. Pre-set modes are a little round the houses to select compared with other menu formats.

Great battery life.

I tend to set up on manual mode with force flash on at ISO100 to 400. Dual natural mode (x1 flash x1 without) is interesting for beginners to experiment and compare non-flash with flash images.

Delighted with this camera

We were given this camera as a gift from someone who owned a similar Fuji and who liked theirs enough to think we would be pleased to receive one as a gift. They were not wrong. We are amateurs - point and click people, but love this camera to bits. It probably does a lot more than we need, but for normal family, holiday etc photographs it is great and the ease of handling and clarity of the pictures is first class together with easy downloading onto the computer is great. Would definitely recommend.

Fuji Finepix F40fd digital camera

This was bought for my son to use with the underwater case he already had for use in Thailand when he takes tourists on pleasure dives. They like to give them the pictures afterwards for them to take home and show friends and family the underwater experience they had on their holidays. My son likes this camera very much as it is simple to use and sturdy.(He is biased as all his cameras are made by Fuji). His diver colleagues often borrow this camera when taking tourists on their diving trips.

Clear & Crisp Images...!! Thats what it takes

Being an amateur photographer I was not really able to decide on which digital camera I should buy. I had bought one from Nikon (S6) earlier for an aweful amount of money. That turned out to be a big disaster and I hated the kind of images it took. So I was extremely skeptical regarding my second purchase.

I had seen the results of Fuji F30fd and liked them very much but unfortunately that model was stopped and the ones selling on ebay were about $800. Though the reviews say that F30 was much better, I found F40 to be closest to that one and bought it. I have had it for over 4 months now and I must say that I am very pleased with it. It takes great pictures in almost all conditions and gives very sharp results.

For a simple point and shoot it is a great buy. Highly recommended.

Built in Obsolescence

This is my second Fuji Camera.
I had a Fuji-F10 and a Fuji-F40 FD
Both eventually failed with the same problem.
Lines across the photo caused by failed CCD Sensors.
Judging by the web this is a common problem with Fuji but not mentioned at all as a problem on the support websites.
For me the Fuji-F40 also developed a faulty zoom lens.
In the 18 months I had the camera 6 of that was spent in repair.
Camera's should at least be made to last 3 to 4 years.
Mine both went not far outside warranty.
The F40 FD also took dark photos for about 3 months before the sensor went.
The camera appeared good originally out of the box but its been so frustrating since I couldn't give it any more than one star.
