Sony MDRNC22

They work. But are not particularly comfortable. The noise cancelling bit doesnt stay clipped very well.

They work!

I was sceptical about these, not being a fan of Sony, but on a four hour flight I was impressed with them. They reduce the sound levels significantly. Not immediately, but after a few minutes.

Not very good with an ipod, and they don't so much cancel the noise as reduce it to a more comfortable level.

Excellent, with high-quality noise-cancelling

I bought these earphones a little hesitantly, after reading about the hiss in other reviews. Do not be dissuaded, however. There is a slight hiss when you switch noise-cancelling on, but anybody who complains about this can't have given these earphones a fair go, as the "hiss" is only audible in a quiet, almost silent environment, when you wouldn't be using it anyway.
The sound-qualiy is excellent.
The monitor switch (not made clear on the description) turns off the noise-cancellation while you hold it and plays what is outside through the earphones. This will cut off whatever you are listening to (though it will resume as soon as you release the button) and is extremely useful. They also fit perfectly in my ear, with the selection of buds, acting as excellent passive noise-isolation in their own right and penetrate deep into my head, allowing for a crisp and clear sound.
I would highly recommend these earphones.

Pain and Loss

I like the quality and the noise cancellation on aircraft does make it easier to sleep - and the small size does allow you to just about rest your head on a pillow with them on.

On the down side, they have to be jammed into your ear canals with one of the three available sized adapters so unless my ears are strange, they leave you with painful ears after along haul flight.

And the adapters come off very easily - love them as I do, they are not coming travelling with me again - one adapter disappeared on BA107.

Buy over the ear type instead IMO.

Wow... Really Wow!

I brought these a couple of days ago as my 4 year old sony ear buds died a death.

I was sceptical about the noise cancelling features and indeed when I used them in the office I didn't notice that much.

But on the bus and train on the way home they really came into their own. I heard a high pitched noise and thought I'm not supposed to hear that with the noise cancellation and turned off the noise cancelation to see the difference. The difference was that I could no longer hear the iPod over the background noise of the train (rumblings, airco system etc). When you turn the circuit on for a second you don't notice the difference then most of the background fades away making listening at a low volume possible. Excelent head phones!

4 star as they are not completely comfortable (but about the same as other ear buds)... But well worth the money I paid!
