Review of SONY MDRNC22 headphones

(5 out of 5) by Dr. R. A. Jackson on Jul 27, 2009 (Keele, Staffs, UK)
I am very happy with these headphones. They fit very snugly, and as a result almost all background noise is lost without switching on the noise reduction. But I am expecting that the noise reduction will be important when I use the headphones on a flight, which I haven't done yet.

I gave the to my son as a present as he does a lot of flying. He reports that they are extremely effective and that he is very pleased with them.

(2 out of 5) by HT KUNG on Apr 30, 2009 (Newcastle upon Tyne, England)
Everything are blocked including my family's talking and stuff.

uses 1 AAA just like the MC6 model, lasts for 50 hours as told

those are all good but yea
I love to sing to myself when I listen to songs and I can hear myself so whats the deal?
it blocks everything but your own voice?

I recommend this item, but not to those who loves to sing to yourself.

Problem with DAB Radio.

(3 out of 5) by Pilgrim-Lad on Apr 24, 2009 (UK)
Some reviews have stated that there is no difference between the outside noise when switched on and when switched off. I took some time choosing the correct buds and how they were fitted and found that the noise cancellation was good, not great, but OK. I normally use my headphones whilst walking to and from work along busy roads so I was looking for something to block out the sound of the number 42 roaring past which they did to a moderate degree. I do agree that most of the sound is reduced by the mere fact that you have headphones in your ears but I would say the noise cancellation added another 10% reduction. The biggest issue, and hence the reason they have been returned, is that they simply don't work with a portable Sony DAB radio. Switch the noise cancellation on and the DAB signal dies! Now I'm not a teckie but that makes no sense to me and why I should get a good signal with cancellation off and it drop to nothing when it's on is beyond my understanding but, sadly, back to Amazon they go.

Excellent

The noise cancelling function is great with constant low pitch noise eg in a plane , bus. Most of the noise suppression is down to the rubber cups on the ears so for day to day use you could probably save some cash and just buy the headphones with the cups and no electronic cancelling.
